When you talk about the problems you go through as an aro/ace person and your friends go “oh, ok.”

And yet when your Bi friend talks about the problems they go through, there is a heated emotional response in their favour.

I’m sick of us being seen as less important.

(Both are problems that need addressing and I’m not trying to dismiss the struggles other LGBTQA+ go through.)

When even your parents place romantic love above that of platonic.

As a child of divorce, I lived my more formative years as a child with a single parent and accepted it as how our home was. I didn’t care. I still had my mum and sister. I was happy.

I love her. But I don’t think I’ll ever forgive my mum for saying she wouldn’t be able to live without my step-dad. And that the years being without a partner were the worst she had ever been through.
