My New Year's resolution has, accidentally, turned out to be.. No more bullshit. If people want me to ask about something, or talk, then they'll tell me. If I want something, then I'll tell them. No guessing games, no passive aggressive shit, I am endorsing straight forward communication and people saying explicitly what they want, or don't want, or whatever.
This has always been my personal policy, but I have basically never held other people to it. I've been doing it, and it's amazing how much my stress has gone down?
What's also amazing is that my desire to have bold, open communication means that I absolutely did send three different mass texts to (different groups of) my friends, saying happy birthday to their ~favorite person~, winky face, just to ensure I got my desired acknowledgement, and I've never been so tickled by 1) people conceding to this blatant demand, and 2) the fact at 27, I am finally fully confident enough to lean into being a loud asshole.
