i find it funny how pokemon’s power creep mimics magic the gathering’s power creep almost exactly, even in how the techs (trainers/spells) got progressively worse. makes you wonder if they should of done a reset at some point
I doubt it. I don't know much about the current TCG metagame, but just from looking at winning deck lists, you still see an abundance of Trainers.
no yeah! but like, aside from "family-friendly" games, they've kept their most notorious and well-known franchises. aside from that though, i really feel like they're slowly going out of their comfort zone, though? i mean sure there's like 4 "new super mario bros" games but they're putting a lot more effort into a side franchise that's less casual-friendly like fire emblem plus they announced a new IP in the first time since forever. AND there's a star fox in the making. so maybe f-zero soon?

I think there IS a reason why F-ZERO is a dead franchise, same as Star Fox: in the DS/Wii era, nintendo pushed very heavily for a new kind of public, one that played much more casually, and so they really only made games from their more kid-friendly and family-oriented franchises, while heavily relying on "casual" games. Then they had to get their head out of the gutter, but they had lost an entire generation of kids who wouldn't be familiar with their other franchises, so they play it safe now
