Hi. jordan-reamy sent me here saying you could maybe explain Homestruck? Thank you in advanced, I want to get into the fandom. Thank you.
Oh my god... no no no. I cannot explain Homestuck. I don't think anyone can actually EXPLAIN Homestuck.
But I will tell you this. It is the best thing that's happened to me in quite some time. It's a fabulously and hilariously written webcomic, full of cleverness, intricacy, lovable characters, creativity, and a fandom to match.
It has given me back my drive for cosplay. It has given me a fandom I can be passionate about again. But more than anything, it's given me a place to belong.
Last year I started to lose touch with all of my friends. I didn't feel close to anyone anymore and it was giving me very bad anxiety. I found Homestuck, and I found friends.
Cons had begun to loose their luster, and I had no idea what to do because cons were everything to me. They were the only place I could be truly myself. Homestuck made them fun again.
The fandom gets a lot of shit for it's more annoying and insane members, but when you're actually in it, there really aren't any more of a percentage than any other fandom. Ours simply stand out more because we're so large. But overall, it's a tremendously talented, warm, friendly, caring, and welcoming place. I've never regretted being here a second.
I've met some of my best friends through Homestuck. I met my wonderful girlfriend through Homestuck. And I recommend it to anyone.
When you need to remember is to keep reading.
Do not skip to Act 5. Do not skip the Intermission. Read all the pesterlogs. Start at the beginning, and keep reading. I know it's kind of boring. I know it's long and tedious and absurdly hard to get through. Be patient. I promise it gets better. And you'll be so glad you read the first 3-4 acts. You'll get such a great appreciation for them after you've finally gotten really into it.
Just keep reading. We can't wait for you to join us. <3
