(circa 1976-1985) This documentary film project began in 2000 and while its co-directors have completed many other feature works in the meantime, this is their long awaited epic collaboration. THE FILM When punk swept into Washington D.C. in the late 1970s, an explosive scene emerged with uncompromising attitudes and powerful new sounds. The ideas and music which grew out of that time continue to have a profound impact, resonating around the world. This is a portrait of how such an amazing movement could grow out of such an unlikely town. DC Radio in the 80s In the early 80's it was a different time, DC was open, the mixture of influences was crazy, we had a brand new urban station in WPGC but a lot still listen to Q107, it was the 80s, black or white you remember 16 Candles, Breakfast Club and the Brat Pack, you also remember going to the Black Hole to see Essence play.
