#tbt Conversations about intersectionality over last weekend’s Women’s Wave had me thinking - I had been asked on different occasions if #BloodyGirlGang was going to be part of _________ event becos “your brand looks like a good fit” “they are advocating women empowerment and that’s totally BGG” “I love BGG’s voice and style, are you going to make more products?” Yes.... and no. In 2018 I had reached out, applied to these Bay Area events, put $$ in to be a vendor and had either been rejected, ignored or marginalized. #thatmarginalizedthing What I’ve noticed when visiting some of them in person is that they’re predominantly white and according to 2015 census of the Bay Area’s demographic, White: 53.6% (non-Hispanic: 41%). So where are the rest of 46.4% representations of #WOC ? 🤷🏻♀️ Bay Area! We can do better!! What’s 2019 for BGG? Not bloody giving up the fight that’s for sure and open to suggestions 🧡 . . . #womenswave2019 #girlboss #intersectionality #artistofcolor #girlgang #womensrights #poc #feministartist #womenofillustration #gentrificationisreal #artistinSF #representationmatters #feministfriday #browngirls #womenofcolor #feminismisforeverybody #womensmarchoakland #womensmarchsanfrancisco #jungleasian #visiblewomen #bayarea #girlswhodontshave #pinkhairdontcare #feministart #immigrantsmakeamericagreat #nooneisillegalonstolenland (at San Francisco, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BtBnUyRBAGi/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=g2j6p7afbyi3
