After reading TEG, I didn't know if I'd be able to find another fic I would enjoy that much. Oh boy did Face the Past hit hard man. I know people have asked this question about TEG before, so I'm wondering:

What was some of your favorite scenes to write in Face the Past?

(And to anyone who hasn't read it, especially if you liked TEG, please give it a try it was so emotionally rich and beautiful. I'm very happy TEG gets the recognition it deserves, though I wish FtP would so as well)

Hi! Thank you so much! :D It's very validating to hear this, as I considered FtP one of my greatest accomplishments before TEG was written! To your point, it's really astounding how much more attention TEG has than everything else I've posted. Like, we're talking logarithmic levels, here. There's a weird dissonance for me when a lot of people read TEG and say "I love your writing!" but then never check out anything else I've written... like, fair, absolutely no one is obligated to read anything I've written, but also, :'D ? I hope that doesn't sound bad to read, but it's honestly something I've :'D???'d about for years now.

Fav scenes to write in FtP? It's been a really long time since I've written it, but I'll give it a shot :D Cut for spoilies.

out of order:

-Mirage and Skywarp reconnecting on the cliffside

-Mirage and Skywarp in the crystal garden

-loved writing all of Flatline's medical jargon and puzzling out Mirage's illness

-the little flashbacks Mirage had of his previous apartment life, before the reader knows it's Skywarp. they felt so dreamy and sensual

Honestly I think I enjoyed writing most of the fic. TEG was a lot more difficult and, especially towards the end, I felt a lot of pressure to deliver. In retrospect, FtP felt a lot more relaxed to write.

Writing FtP is what made Mirage/Skywarp my OTP. Previous to that, I was writing them together without an emotional component on my own side. Now I love them haha.

Side funfact: color is used as foreshadowing/symbolism throughout the beginning of the fic. Descriptions of the sky with stars allude to Mirage's cult past, and purple/silver allude to Skywarp. If I had more time this morning before work I'd grab you some direct quotes but if you ever reread, keep a lil eye out :)

Hello! I absoloutly adore FtP and you might remember me as someone who left quite a lot of and some pretty long comments. It has been such a beautiful fic to read!

I did ask a few questions, but there are some I forgot to ask about how the different characters look (which frames in mind). I've already read the post about Skywarp.

Could you also show Mirage, Flatline, Spreem and Quickmix? Been mostly curious about Flatline and Quickmix :D

All the frames are based on IDW versions, and there are very few refs unfortunately.

Mirage's pre-war body, which he had in all the flashback scenes, is from the comic frame that gave me the canon data point "Mirage was at the mnemosurgery place":

Mirage at the present-day time of the fic: he has several designs in "modern IDW," and this one is my favorite. It's not from MTMTE or LL, it's from the sister comic that came out at the time:

Flatline also had several designs/interpretations, depending on who was drawing him (this was a feature of all of IDW. made it hard on fan artists lol). This is my fav, the one by Alex Milne:

Although Milne's Flatline is my fav, I must take this opportunity to show you Saren Stone's interpretation, because their digital painting style is to DIE for (I would literally die to have this level of skill) (as long as I could come back and use it, otherwise what would be the point):

In the time since the fic came out, Flatline has been revived for at least one more thing (IDW2, not sure if anything else) and a toy has come out. So you may see other refs for him, but the above is what I had in mind for the fic.

For Spreem I'm afraid you'll have to use your imagination a bit. He wasn't in IDW and there isn't a ready reference for him, but here is a great pic of his toy (click on it to see it bigger) and here's a great fan drawn version. That fan version is pretty close to what I imagine- with different proportions, though.

For Quickmix, I think he had, like, two appearances in IDW and this is the clearer one:

Hopefully between the fic's descriptions and the images, you'll have something for your brain to grab onto, if that was your goal :)
