Hey! Can I ask which Suits fic you were reading?
The fic I was reading is needs must by thatotherperv. It’s the most highly kudosed and bookmarked fic in AO3′s Harvey Specter/Mike Ross tag - and with good reason.
It’s a Dom/sub story and a romance, and probably one of the most compelling depictions of a relationship that I’ve ever seen in a fic. After I finished it, I went back and re-read a chapter a night before bed for about six weeks. I would also find myself periodically thinking about it during daylight hours, and just kind of blissfully zoning out.
If you’re a fan of the Harvey/Mike pairing, I imagine you will have read it. If you’re new (like I was when I read it) you don’t need to have watched the show for it to make sense. It’s just enough of an AU to rewrite a whole bunch of the canon. Synopsis is as follows:
When Grammy needs an upgrade in care, Mike knows that the usual one-off gig as a paid submissive won't be enough. He takes a job he's been refusing for a while - a long-term, full-time contract.
He expects his client to be a sadistic asshole. He expects not to like it. He's wrong on both counts.
And it’s amazing. The author describes it as “schmoopy hookerfic” - and yeah, sure, that’s generally accurate. But that description criminally understates how nuanced it is. I couldn’t bring myself to read anything - published or fic - for a long while afterwards
