"Kiyo makes me really happy too! He's just so sweet and gorgeous, and wow have I ever met a man so bright? No, no, not only is he sharp as a tack, but it's not in that holier-than-though oh-look-how-smart-I-am-and-look-how-stupid-you-are way that shows up in the bright ones too often! He's so humble about it and puts so much time and effort and love into answering people's questions, and is it not the most charming thing you've ever seen when he shares little tidbits out of the blue just because it stuck with him and he wants you to know about it?
It's always the most interesting things!!! Ooh, and his eyes don't just glaze over when you wanna tell him something too, he's always so actively engaged and listening and I have been settin' my standards way too low bein' impressed if I can just get a date to get somethin' down from the top shelf for me without throwin' a hissy fit!
Mmm, and that's not even touching on how--
Mercy. I'm getting way off topic, ain't I?
Actually, it's a little embarrassing, come to think of it. Sometimes for me it ain't even so much about eating comfort food so much as having the whole house smell like it. Not that I waste it of course, but I may not be hungry at all when I tie on my apron, clear to the point when I could be divvying up plates if I wanted. Felt like there was never not a time when we didn't have something sizzling in a skillet or marinating in a crock pot or baking in the oven at home, and believe it or not, I have quite the problem of getting homesick. I may be eating on the same chicken Marsala or shrimp étouffée every meal every day for the next three days, but that doesn't stop me.
Of course, when I want comfort food and I'm hungry for comfort food, that ain't much better. A part of the reason I don't really care for the title of Ultimate Cook is that it's misleading. My horizons expand more every day, and "cook" implies to me that I couldn't figure out how to bake anything that doesn't have the distinctive putrid aftertaste of an Easy Bake Oven™ packet. There's no pastry cooks, but there are pastry chefs.
...Riddle me this one: who can hum and has made a platter of petit-fours that can comfortably feed about fifty, only to see how uncomfortably it can feed one? 'Could it be Chef Teruteru Hanamura?' you ask? Mmmhmmmm. Not my finest... Moments. Plural.
Maybe stayin' a cook would've been best.
It isn't bad to indulge a little though when you're under the weather in one way or another, and while I don't have a menstrual cycle myself, I've been close with plenty of people who do.
If you're still going through the aches and pains that go along with it, might I recommend something?
There are these lil' cloth bags you can buy (or easily make yourself if it's easy for you to get the materials you need and sew it yourself) that work as heating pads. You just toss 'em in the mircrowave for a few minutes and they're very soothing. I get sore after being on my feet all day and it works like a charm, so I imagine they'd help with cramps too. Plus they make nice bed warmers for when you feel fine but might want a little something to help lull you to sleep. The bags have whole feed corn in them, so they're just called corn bags if you wanna see about buying one or making one. If money's not too tight, you can get them online from Etsy for cheap.
In any case, I hope your cycle is almost up and you can find somethin' nice to snack on without spoiling your appetite!"
