c!dream? emotional repression is my second third and fourth name c!dreamwastaken? no, i don't think he will. especially not now that he's out and there's just so much to do. he has to strategize and get back to his plans, there's no time for him to process his trauma or even to properly acknowledge it and tbh i really don't think he wants to. eventually it'll catch up to him tho, it kinda has to and when it does it's definitely not going to be pretty.

Crim in your opinion, is there a way to do a Crusades era flashback without it being problematic?

UHHHHH im caught between 'i dont know enough about the event to really have a constructive opinion about this' and 'Well How Do You Define Problematic?' and 'yea probably'

plus i mean. 'can this topic be addressed with all of the nuance it requires?' and 'can this topic be addressed in a way that will satisfy the Tumblrsphere?' are two different questions.

plus 'will this topic be addressed with historical accuracy?' and 'will this topic be addressed with sensitivity and nuance?' are two different questions as well. so is 'will this topic be addressed with a genuine understanding of the complexity of the themes and ideas at play here (and how they do and dont resound to the present day)?'

i dont know. i think... its easy to have the lads say 'we met in the crusades <3' bc thats usually going to invoke the reaction of 'awe they met on opposite sides of a war :) how romantic' in your audience and Thats It, no further thoughts (at least for the Majority of your audience, the fandom clown patrol at tumbr dot com doesnt count). but if you actually dig down and SHOW that meeting & how that meet-ugly ends up getting resolved that will be... different. actually witnessing it is different.

and i think even IF you tackle the subject matter with ALL of the background knowledge & experience & nuance & sensitivity possible, there Will still be people who are disgusted/upset/offended by it.

#and by 'crusades flashback' here im referring to like. whole scenes or potentially a prequel movie or anything of the like #if we're talking just flashes (like the flashback of booker's son) then yeah sure. those are just flashes #thats easy #hard to fuck up a couple of split second shots with no dialogue you know #stab stab #hug it out #etc #anonymous #idk i just dislike the term 'problematic'#its too vague imo
