Why they are the best: literally the personification of ‘looks like they could kill you but is actually a cinnamon roll’

Why they are the worst: went all vengeful on the time lords when clara told him not to, also plotted to erase her memories without her consent like friend pal buddy don’t do that shit. ur lucky clara caught that or i would’ve come over to punch you in the face

a canon fact (that shouldn’t be): look i love the husbands of river song and he and river make a great team but also he’s aro as heck and i will forever be bitter that we didn’t get an ep like that with eleven and river

a non-canon fact (that should be): aroace twelve 4ever

a piece of advice I would give them: listen to clara. also don’t make people immortal maybe??? like it worked out with ashildr in the end but like. just dont

Who I’d invite to a sleepover or dinner party :D This is hard bc I want to invite everyone and then there’s a ton of rl women I want to invite (outside my friends even) I just want a massive girls sleepover. But to try to whittle it down to 5:

Clara. As if I’m not going to invite Clara over if I have the chance

Angelica Schuyler. Damn you could have some good conversations with this girl, and she’d be a ton of fun as well.

River Song. The stories. Just, like, the stories

Sansa. She needs a hug and some girl time and just generally some supportive friends and stuff

Classic Who?

Favorite Male Character: Seven or Two. Love the dorky exterior hiding infinite wisdom and a manipulative edge.

Favorite Female Character: Barbara, Vicki, Zoe, Liz, Romana, Ace.. I’m sorry but you really can’t make me choose.

Least Favorite Character: There’s quite a few candidates. Um, hmm. Is it too cliche to say Adric? He’s a character I wanted to like to spite the fan consensus, and who had a sweet dynamic with Four, but who kept being written as someone I find pretty unpleasant.

Favorite Ship: Four/Romana or Ian/Barbara (the ship name is so cute! I mean, Barbarian! How great is that?)

Favorite Friendship: Seven and Ace, probably. Not entirely healthy all the time, but rich and always interesting.

Favorite Quote: Oh dear, I’m never good with just pulling quotes out of thin air. Let’s go with “You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views. Which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that need altering.” 

Worst Character Death (if any): Oh dear, I’m of the opinion that none of the major deaths worked particularly well. Peri’s is probably my least favorite, though. It drives home the abusive tones from her dynamic with Six, strips her of what little agency she was given, and just treats her horribly (as per usual for Philip Martin, really). And then they undid her death (yay) to marry her off to Brian Blessed (????). That’s...better, I guess? But a fair ways away from good.

This made me so happy you have no idea Moment: Ace beating a Dalek with a baseball bat.

Saddest Moment: Cancellation.

Favorite Location: The TARDIS, of course.

most of book 7 is one big numb blank to me

it’s just so awful and hollow for me? i first read the series when i was 11-12, and i’ve reread every other book several times since then, but as soon as they go in for the attack at the petrol station i just can’t handle it and have to skip to the end of the war

Do you think that Rose sort of became the Doctor like Clara? In the end of her journey she was very much like him, but I wonder if she was as similar to The Doctor as Clara. If they share the same moral compass, addictions, etc...

I think all of the companions had arcs in which they became the Doctor in some ways. Martha becoming a member of UNIT, her willingness to destroy Earth if it meant keeping the universe safe, settling into a life of freelance work with Mickey... Donna’s very literal transformation into the DoctorDonna... and Amy, towards the end of her arc, very much played the experienced companion, all “Geronimo” and even having “companions” of her own, in Nefertiti and Ridell. Rose probably comes closest to Clara’s arc though, particularly when she return in series 4 of Doctor Who.

I think each of them became the Doctor in different ways, and they were mirroring different Doctors too. And Clara really takes that idea to its extremes, because she was always written as a character innately similar to him, all the way back to Asylum of the Daleks and “show me the stars!”. And because she really mirrors him in some of his worst traits, which she associates as much with being the Doctor as having adventures and saving the day.

(I’ll apologise for this being very incomplete and rough, I’ll tag some people who might be better qualified at comparing Rose and Clara here... @thatsabsurrrrd, @orelseatlastsheunderstoodit, but anyone feel free to share your perspective.)

Top 5 "holy shit" TV plot twists?

I feel like I’m definitely going to miss some, but here goes:

Ned Stark dying I mean that’s a twist for the ages

Most of series 1 of Orphan Black. Not that there weren’t twists later, but they weren’t quite as surprising (or quite as much the point)

River Song, who was expecting that

When they decided not to destroy Gallifrey in DotD, especially for the lasting emotional impact aka grinning for half an hour straight

Ward shooting Victoria Hand (also Skye becoming a superhero, but Ward shooting Hand was more of a shock)
