Since I found out that I was pregnant I have been contemplating on the people that I surround my self with (in person or online). I have slowly, one by one began cutting people off my life. Why? Because in one way or another these “friends” keep making the same fucken mistakes with me. At 32 I’m no longer in a position where I want to surround my self by people who don’t respect me. Im an educated woman, who faced many struggles in her life to be where she is now. No! I don’t know your American films because I grew up watching Cantinflas when I wasn’t busy being a mom (to my little brother) and running a household at the age of ten. No my words are not as articulate as yours but trust me when I say my opinion is based on facts, not based on simple opinion and ignorance. I don’t try to make my self look good by belittling another person or race. I don’t correct others in public because I don’t like to embarrass others, just to prove that I am right or know more than they do. My level of smart is not measured by my race! Just because I’m Mexican doesn’t mean I’m stupid and have no education or any knowledge of the subject in hand, sometimes I like to stay quiet and listen to people “speak for me or assume for me” while they are trying to educate me on a subject that I am already familiar with, why? Because it’s entertaining to see the same people make no sense of what they are saying. These are the people that I have no room for in my life. If you want to be my friend, learn my story so you can have a list of words that you can used to define me and not just simply... The Mexican girl. I am proud to be Mexican, but there is so much more to me! If you find your self no longer being in my life don’t just wonder why Maria is MIA, maybe start to think what you might have been doing that made me push you away.
