[ every time i see a duckling i think of thatscaptoyou and miss them even more. ._. ]
A guide to my tags
Or at least, the ones I have right now The captain - thatscaptoyou (self explanatory) The asset - winterxghost (because he sees this Bucky as more of a toy, a pet. You'll notice he says 'it' and refuses to use James' name. He treats him like the weapon he was designed to be) The assassin - my-hell-is-empty (Brock sees this Bucky as a person)
"Please stay."
Jared looked down at Steve, seeing the man connected to all these machines that were keeping him alive when just a few hours ago he'd seen him and everything was fine, hurt him. "Of course I will." He said looking down at Steve with a small smile eyes lined with tears, taking in Steve's hand and giving it a light squeeze. He was honestly just glad that Steve was alive, he hadn't heard exactly what had happened to him, but part of him just told him that he didn't even want to pry on it. "How you doing?" He asked as he pulled up the chair, sitting by the side of Steve's bed.
Steve frowned himself, shaking his head, "No." He would have stamped his foot if he could have, not caring if he was like a child for it. "No you need to rest." he rumbled, even as Bucky climbed in to bed with him. "You need to sleep because if you don't you're going to get sick." His voice was little more than a whisper and he sighed heavily. "Please don't get sick. I can't take care of you like you do me." By now his eyes were closed and his face was in Bucky's chest, clutching at him.
Bucky was glad, that Steve was not looking at him. He was sure, that his expression would have given away some of the feelings about Steve's condition, that Bucky didn't want his lover to know. He didn't answer, instead wrapped his arms tighter around Steve and rested his cheek against the top of the blond's head.
No, he couldn't get sick. He needed to stay strong and healthy to take care of Steve, because no one else would.
He huffed at the other's words and rolled his eyes, face still pale and sweaty. "No I..." He sighed and ran a shaking hand through his hair. "I know you do things when I'm asleep. I'm going to be okay, B-Buck.." He stopped to cough hard and breathless for a long moment. "This..." He panted for air afterwards, "This'll pass." He flicked a small smile at his boyfriend and gently tried to tug him in to bed. "Sleep with me? I miss you being here." Here being the spot directly next to him.
Frowning, Bucky shook his head. "I can take a nap, when you're asleep.", he said. He'd slept for a few hours here and there, when he was sure, that Steve was safe and asleep and wouldn't need him. "You rest, okay?", but despite his words, he pushed himself out of his chair and slid into bed with Steve, wrapping an arm around the thin body.
The longer the days went on, the more Steve grew worried. He was sick in bed, again, and Bucky stayed by his side. Every time Steve fell asleep and woke up, he was there. Logically the smaller knew his boyfriend had to be working but he never saw him leave, just saw the rings under his eyes grow, and grow, and grow until Steve couldn't handle it anymore. He caught Bucky's hand one day and squeezed gently. "Buck, stay. Please?" He whispered, eyes soft as he looked at his boyfriend.
No matter how often it happened, Bucky would never get used to seeing Steve sick. He knew, that with his medical history things could get serious. So, every time Steve took a turn for the worse, Bucky was there. He didn't dare leave his best friend, his partner, the man he loved out of his sight for longer than absolutely necessary.
There was an irrational fear, that he would look away, just for a moment, and Steve would be gone. So he didn't sleep. He knew it wasn't exactly the healthiest thing to do, but he just couldn't.
"I'm stayin' right here.", he said, when Steve spoke. "Wasn't planin' ta go anywhere.", he reached out to thread his fingers through blond hair in a comforting caress.
She frowned and huddled in Jared's arms, swallowing hard and clutching at his shirt. "W-When will he be home?" She asked, voice quiet as she hid against him. "I w-want P-papa." She whimpered, Steve could always help with the nightmares, not that her father didn't of course, but it helped to have both of them. She knew where they were then. Right there. Right with her and safe. It was something that scared her more than it probably should for a four year old.
Jared held her close running a hand through her hair attempting to calm her down. "He'll be back soon Ser." He assured her smiling small as he moved over to the couch and went to sit down, putting her on his lap. "Do you wanna call Papa and ask him how far he is?" He asked as he took his phone out of his pocket, holding it out to her.
