I’ve always been scared
Rejection is a very common theme in my life
It’s foreign when I’m accepted
They say to be different
But when you are
Nobody can actually see you
Never cool enough in school
Couldn’t even make sorority life work
Too forced and fake
Is it so wrong
To want simple connections?
Shouldn’t be this complicated
Sometimes it feels
Like a game that never ends
Or a code I can’t crack
To some people it comes easy
Yet they’re shocked when they get hurt
Guess that’s the difference
When you’re screwed over
Countless times
It’s easy to build up a wall
Started as a kid
People of all ages
Showing me who they truly were through harmful words
Rejection is a bitch
But if you look at it the right way
It’s possible to save yourself
Don’t let the world bury you
Hear it and process
Keep the ones that matter close
Sometimes they just can’t see the light
