Heres rushed sketches of my Starbound Saturnian (well, Thaumoth actually). I haven't sketched her much at all but I don't want to neglect her. She's a lil silly!

Mini Bio:

Belladonna is a 17 y/o Thaumoth who gives off a brooding teenager vibes..when shes not wearing her glasses. She's rude, introverted, and broody normally, but when she wears her special glasses, shes anything but! The temper seems to disappear the instance she puts them on, and she becomes a sweet and friendly girl! Apparently shes unaware of her moodswap, and her normal self wears them to "see better" or something apparently, not that she remembers why anyway. The times you see Belladonna without her glasses is her desperately trying to find them again, muttering about "suppressing the dark magic" and "stop the whispers" or something like that. Belladonna will be clueless if asked about it with her glasses on, and its very rare to see her without them on in the first place. Finding out about her true self will definitely be a surprise for sure. Hope she's alright, though..

Oh neat, a Saturnian character and a Thaumoth at that! Does he have trouble speaking because his species is a bit.. squeaky? The little noises they make are adorable but probably not good for speaking to other races.

Something like that! He can enunciate a few words at a time, but because of how his vocal system is structured, he's not going to get much better than that. I imagine it's the same for most insectoid races when trying to speak any language originating from humans/avians/any race that doesn't use ultrasonic chirps.

Occasionally Thierri will use a speech synthesizer to communicate for longer conversations like discussing terms and conditions of a contract. Speech synthesizers that have a variety of sounds from avian calls to insectoid clicks are a must-have for anybody traveling across the galaxy.

Player Character + First Crew member of my first frackin universe playthrough started abt half a year ago(?)

THIERRI [Thaumoth]

Player Character, but as an oc he was never a part of the Terene Protectorate

Mercenary with a specialization in taking down large targets. Even after the Ruin was defeated, the fact that an entire planet (a populated home planet!) could get destroyed by an eldritch being appearing out of nowhere scared everybody. As a result, his expertise is more desired than ever before.

(I'll make another post about my hcs surrounding the aftermath of Earth's destruction and the future of humanity going forward at a later date.)

Although FU Thaumoths are a vegetarian species, I decided that Thierri gets to be a bit of a biological anomaly. As a treat. Guy eats meat. Sometimes raw. (Something ain't right about that boy) As you may imagine, an individual of a species that has no history of ever having to eat the flesh of other living beings to get the required nutrients suddenly just. Eating flesh. Is off-putting to most other Thaumoths. Thierri is an outcast of Thaumoth society and there are even some rumors around him being an eldritch monster himself.

Although he is semi-fluent in many interplanetary languages, he's better at understanding than speaking. A moth of few words.

GUS [Human]

Just a guy

Sole survivor of the Lunar Base 12 Incident, known in-game as the Erchius Mining Facility mission. Gus was the "lucky" miner that falls out of the Erchius Horror after its defeat.

Gus's stationing at Lunar Base 12 was originally temporary. He planned on returning to Earth to continue his mechanic training once he earned enough to pay the high cost of living on his own homeplanet.

Thierri was hired by Lethia Corp. to retrieve the Erchius horror alive or dead, for their own shady purposes. However, from the start he had no intention of transporting it alive due to the danger it could pose to himself. The battle between him and the horror differs from the game version in that Thierri used explosives and his own weapons to wear down the outer shell of the horror. Gus, trapped in the crystalline shell, attempted to push through one of the cracks to escape. He got his left arm through before Thierri realized he was alive and ended up getting his arm blown up and a bunch of erchius crystal embedded in his side by one of Thierri's blasts. Gus doesn't seem to blame Thierri for the loss of most of his arm, he's mostly just grateful to be alive.

Sometimes he gets Lethia Corp. Assassins going after him because he's living proof of Lethia Corp. breaking galactic law and committing atrocities against their workers.

As a result of Gus not being able to settle down in one place or even return to Earth, he became Thierri's first and unexpected crew member. He doesn't really have one role on the ship, mostly filling in for other people once the crew gets larger way later on. When it was just the two of them at the beginning, he was more an unwanted guest than a teammate. Thierri wouldn't let him touch any of the ship's inner workings for months.
