Thavier Christmas Presents 2021
Theo took the gift with a gentle smile, and he almost felt guilty for tearing paper so beautifully wrapped. The meticulous presentation did not stop him, and once opened, Theo was a surprised to find a book, The Steadfast Tin Soldier. Xavier's gifts were usually very grandiose and dramatic, and if a book was given it was supernatural, or an ancient tome or scroll.
His office was evidence of Xavier’s many smaller gifts over the years, usually random presents Xavier picked up while working, turning Theo’s office into something of small library teaming with books from floor to ceiling. Theo was more than happy to add a new one to his collection, but he knew this wasn’t an ordinary book. This one held a personal note and a message, and it would find a a permanent resting place in Theo’s desk, rather than joining the others on his office shelves.
"Thank you, baby. I'm excited to read this.”
Theo then tucked his book under his arm and offered Xavier his hand.
“Now it’s my turn, come with me- your gift should be in its proper place by now!”
With a gentle tug and a reassuring squeeze of Xavier’s hand, Theo led Xavier down to the drawing room.
“Close your eyes,” one final command before Theo pulled Xavier inside.
Hung on the wall was a large, beautifully painted family portrait of Xavier, Theo, and Devlin. I was a perfect replacement for the portrait that had been there prior, only this image had Xavier’s new appearance and Devlin’s current age.
Around the painting was an ornate, dark wood frame with intricate carvings embellished in slivers of gold and small, inlayed rubies. These details were subtle, easier viewed at a closer distance and meant to resonate with similar colors worked into the piece without distracting from it.
“Merry Christmas, Xavier. I hope you like it. You can open your eyes.”
