          If the tension between Kian and Daniel is getting to him, Kian doesn’t show it. Cass had gone off to shower all the lingering mud and dirt he was covered in, leaving the two of them together in silence. The smarter move might have been to stay quiet, but Kian’s never been good at not voicing his concerns. 

          “We heard it, y’know. Your argument.” Bits and pieces anyway, when it was particularly heated, but he won’t mention that. “Why are you still here? If you’re just here to play with his feelings, then to be honest, I don’t think you should keep coming around.”

      “   i’m happy the feeling is mutual.   ”   pinches her arm and chuckles.

“Is it really that bad to be partnered up with me?” Satsuki didn’t sound hurt, just confused. A few of the people in their class had snickered to themselves when she and Tohru got partnered for the “test of courage” walk. One of them had even apologized to him for his “bad luck”. Best to ask him now before they walk into the depths of the woods before them. “Am I unlucky? I’ve never been told that I was before so I’m a little confused…”

     “   we’ll be fine.   ”   he dryly reassured her,  trying to ignore the comment that felt like a jab at the both of them.   another gathering just meant another reason for schoolmates to say sly comments that they knew would rile him up.   “   an american friend once told me ignorance is bliss.  besides,  think they were making more fun of me than you.   ”   his boldness was unmatched as he reached out and grabbed her hand firmly,  tugging her along into the woods entrance with a determined expression.   “   ishioka,  do you think we should mark the trees if we get lost?   ”   he didn’t trust that the others wouldn’t tamper with any other trail he created,  but he also doubted their intelligence in thinking they would also think to mess up cravings on trees.   “   i did it before with someone else since they weren’t the best with directions.  just wondering if the same applies to you.   ”

Theo didn’t think he would ever have an effect like that on someone. Still, he felt that if anyone deserved to feel accepted and to feel good about themselves, she was the one. He was struggling to not get emotional at her confession, though, so he brought Nico close for a hug. Theo wasn’t the best at initiating them, but for Nico, he felt like there was a lot he was capable of.

❛❛  Okay, that’s it, I’m changing out of it.  ❜❜ Noel groaned, stealing a glance at herself in the mirror. She wanted to look special. It was about to be her first time playing an actual sold-out show. Though she’d never admit it, she did want Sam to be a part of this night.

When he felt Nico join him, Theo scooted just a bit in case she needed more space, turning on his side to glance at her afterwards. At this point, he wasn’t nervous about having her share the bed anymore. The first time Nico had spent the night, he hadn’t slept a wink. Over time, he grew more comfortable around the other and those nerves were long gone.

“  i have brown eyes, you have dark hair. we're both japanese unless you're a very convincing actress like scarlett johansson who can play anyone then i think we have that in common. we both smell like cigarettes sometimes.  ” he went on, looking away from her and into the glass of alcohol he had been babysitting. “  we both have our own struggles, but struggles none the less.  ” finally, he would tip dark liquid into his mouth to swallow bitterly before setting the glass back down with a ' clack ' following.
