“oh i’m sorry --- are you okay? didn’t mean to knock into you like that!” straightening herself up, kiki looked apologetically down at the stranger, tucking one of her curls behind her ear, holding out a hand. she’d just been for a run, needing to clear her mind.. she hadn’t been paying enough attention, though, and well.. she felt bad for bumping into someone the way she had.

People didn’t just get admitted to Arkham Asylum without the Riddler finding out about it.  Of course they didn’t-- he had informants everywhere, whether that meant other prisoners, guards.... He even had a doctor on his payroll, keeping him supplied with a wealth of information, as well as a few small luxuries that weren’t afforded to the normal class of so-called “criminally insane” that were kept here.

He had gotten word of the new admit while they were still on their way to the Asylum, and while he had to admit, his interest was piqued by the potential persona non grata, it was simply not his style to go begging for information or trying to sneak peeks at a newbie.  No, he waited for the gossip to reach him, for his informants to bring him new tidbits, for the unknown to gradually make itself known on its own terms.

To ensure he would be able to meet this new person, he actually made an effort to be on his best behavior-- his new therapist was trying to coerce him into better behavior by dangling commodities like rec room time in front of him like a carrot before a mule.  On anyone besides him, it may have worked.  He simply didn’t care enough under normal circumstances.  His mind was more than enough company, but this...  He had to let the newbie know that this was his asylum.

And so he found himself sitting in the rec room, drumming his fingers absently on the table and gritting his teeth as he watched some Level Five-er do a crossword puzzle-- he wasn’t allowed any sort of puzzles as part of his “treatment plan”.  With a heavy sigh, he let his eyes scan the room, and then...  There he was.  Edward got to his feet and moved to stand beside the stranger.

“Well, well, well, if it isn’t the newbie...  You have been surprisingly difficult to track down, but no one in this hellhole escapes my radar....  So tell me....”  His voice switched from conversational to something a bit darker.  “What are you in for?”
