Zamonia Sexyperson Contest 2025
Are you a fan of Walter Moers' Zamonia books? Did you ever think one or more characters in those books is kissable, and you want the world to know? Perhaps the Shadow King? One of the Wolpertings? A Smeik family member? A Nocturnomath? Or a lesser known goober? Did it ever frustrate you that these books have never reached bigger popularity, and thus no Zamonia character could ever make it to Twitter's or Tumblr's sexyperson contests?
Well, now's your chance to set your blorbo up to a pedestal because WE ARE GONNA VOTE WHO IS THE ULTIMATE ZAMONIAN BADDIE!! 😎😎😎
CONTEST RULES:
Once we have our full pool of contestant characters, voting will be in either 2-character or 3-character rounds, depending how many submissions this blog gets.
You have time until 27.7 (however I can close it earlier if people so wish and no new submissions show up in many days!) to submit a Zamonia character into the askbox, and propaganda for them if you so wish! Yes, you can submit multiple characters.
Allowed characters are adult characters from Zamonia books by Walter Moers. These include any characters from:
- The 13 1/2 Lives of Captain Bluebear
- Ensel und Krete
- Rumo and his Miraculous Adventures
- The City of Dreaming Books
- The Labyrinth of Dreaming Books
- The Alchemaster's Apprentice
- Princess Insomnia
- The Island of 1000 Lighthouses
- any other works that are part of the Zamonia series!! (F.ex. no characters from Moers' other unrelated works like Die Wilde Reise Dürch der Nacht)
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- OP of this blog aka @pant--eater is Finnish. While I have middle school knowledge of German and can understand it written, I'd prefer that the propaganda posts are in English, that way it's easier.
- I have never hosted a poll contest before so you are absolutely allowed to correct me, ask for changes etc. if i fumble stuff LOL
- I also may throw in my own character submissions if someone I simp for doesn't make it into the submissions (cough. Uschan DeLucca, Prof. Nightingale, Inazea Anazazi) but I'll wait first till everyone has submitted theirs!
In time for Hamoulimepp
(or Christmas, as it is known outside of Zamonia) the crew of the Zamonia short film "Eißpin der sehr Schreckliche" / "The Alchemaster's Apprentice" have released a new link for you to watch it!
It's active between 23.12. 4pm and 26.12. 10 pm CET, so bookmark it and then get cozy when the holidays roll around.

Contains spoilers for Gotg 3!
This is exremely niche, but I need to put it out there:
They way gotg 3 depicted the interactions between Rocket and the High Evolutionary reminded me so much of 'the alchemaster's apprentice' by Walter Moers.
Moers is a German fantasy author (for those who do not know) and created a fictional world where his storys take place. He usually takes well known storytypes and transforms them with lots of word play and satire. It's quite unique.
In 'the Alchemaster's apprentice' an alchemist makes a deal with a starving cat named Echo, a special type of cat that can speak, to 'buy' his body fat, since he needs it for an experiment.
He will feed the cat for a certain amount of time and then kill it. Echo agrees, since he would starve either way.
The alchemist teaches Echo secrets of alchemy and comforts him, while he also tortures him psychologically.
Echo still seeks his comfort sometimes, but is also fully aware of the horrors the alchemist inflicts upon him and other creatures.

Echo finally manages to escape and slashes the alchemists nose. There's a vivid description of how dangerous exactly a pissed of cat can get that's basically just slashing claws.
And it's cathartic!
I felt a great deal of satisfaction when rocket went full on wild racoon and tore the Evolutionary's face of. I really felt that.
The mocking of Rocket's pain and the complete lack of empathy were almost unbearable for me.
I needed that scene, even if the results were devastating for Floor and Teefs.
I'm really greatfull for Rockets near death scene that solved that for me. For me personally it would have been even better if the animals were back in their natural state, but they wouldn't be the ones Rocket met, so I get that wasn't possible.
Anyways, great movie, the transhumanism critique was highly appreciated.
Ein achtminütiger Kurzfilm, basierend auf Walter Moers’ Roman “Der Schrecksenmeister”.
Y'all, there's a crowd funding The alchemaster's apprentice movie in process! I really hope it will get the funding, it would be great to have something like this! ( ◜‿◝ )♡ ^^
Perfect Fall/Halloween book
The Alchemaster's Apprentice by Walter Moers
Why is this perfect? Because it starts with despair and it ends with only half of a happy ending! So far this managed to be my favourite book taking place in Zamonien, first place is Rumo, which is also spooky af... or Ensel and Krete. All are great written and so fucked up in a spooky way. You should def read the Zamonien, or Zamonia, books, the world and worldbuilding is just so cool.
But this post is about this one book, since in my eyes its better suited for Halloween than even Hensel and Krete: it has a deadly contract and really fucked up talking bats and a cat. Also an evil and crazy wizard... who is also a great cook.
And tbh what is more perfect for Fall and Halloween than spooky cooking.
Book recommendation
If you like long fantasy novels with bomb world building and whack storylines, a really great underrated author is Walter Moers!! (check how the books follow chronologically because the setting and world will make more sense)
I drew some sketches of Echo :^)
