The best series ever.
DISCOVERED: "Plastic Heaven" by The Animated (1981) I like learning new things. For instance, today I learned (via Wikipedia) that Billy Gould (Faith No More) formed his first band in 1979. The genre-bending new wave group was called The Animated and featured future but pre-Patton Faith No More singer (and a man whose voice has a special place in my heart) Chuck Mosley on keyboards. They released a 4 song EP and I'm having a real hard time not listening to it in the weird hours of the night every night. I can't fully explain the reason why this music takes me to a pseudo-apartment in Huron back when the town meant interesting conversation topics, music and a lot of Camel cigarettes instead of a sparsely populated mall with no Aladdin's Castle (and damn sure no Odyssey) and streets I'm not sure I'd prefer to be around at night. Maybe everyone I know left or went to prison. There's no way Slick is mayor. But this EP makes me happy with its frenetic poppiness. That Billy and Chuck were involved makes it all the better. Below is the link to download the EP. While it came from a fan on Chuck Mosley's Facebook site, a fantastic music blog called Willfully Obscure also did an entry on the band last Halloween. Download the EP here. I'm going to drink tea and think about the Odyssey. It was the first arcade I ever laid eyes on. It was the first place I ever saw Double Dragon. It is one of the few things I miss about Huron, SD.
The 30 day Batman challenge Day Two: Favorite Batman costume? - Arkham Asylum/City or The animated/New Adventures. They are two different kind of Batman; a cartoony and a more naturalistic/realistic. Both are good.
