Every time you watch Get Back, it helps to remind yourself that all of this is happening less than three months after they finished recording The White Album (which wrapped in October and came out in November). And it kind of makes me go, huh—they’d just released a double album and were back in the studio on January 2nd, so maybe it’s not that insane that John didn’t write much, or that everyone seems a little spent.
