I'm trying to imagine how things changed, because you said at first Isabel and Farlan were like "ugh no we don't want to babysit these kids" but I'm wondering how things changed. (It was Farlan wasn't it? Fucking sap had to start acting fatherly to the kids didn't he?)
It was mostly Isabel. Farlan actually didn’t care. He eventually grew fond of them and started acting fatherly to them without even realizing it. It was actually his fault that Isabel started being more affectionate with the kids.
Also, she used to spend a lot of time alone with them while Farlan and Levi were doing important stuff and she was left on charge. The fact that they started admiring her even more was something that triggered her motherly side.
