Swishbeam is terminally awkward and feeling uncomfortable or emotionally distressed makes him lash out. At this moment, he's still really only friends with his moms. Cringe boy

I definitely think the loss of Grasspaw has something to do with it, and that Swishbeam misses him everyday. But he's also already experienced a war (short lived though it may have been) at a young age that started just because he was born. He's also in a very unique position of being the only cat in his generation who had to fight in the war. Icyclaw and Ivyshine were still babies and Turtle and Ragged werent even born before the fights stopped.

He was the only apprentice in the den having nightmares about blood on his claws.
