“Gordon… can you hear me, Gordon? They’re all dead.” (Spoken along with the distorted trumpets; at least, that’s what a lot of people think they hear.)

My main theories are:

1. It’s Alyx communicating with Gordon either from G-Man’s realm or an alternative universe;

2. Or maybe Gordon hallucinates her voice after the battle of the Borealis, when he’s the last one standing with the remaining Combine forces surrounding him. Like, G-Man is somehow broadcasting what’s to come to him over the TV early on.

I’m surprised that there aren’t any fics or many other headcanons about this creepy “radio transmission”. All I know is that when I encounter it in-game or look it up on YouTube for funsies, I can’t sleep that night. Tonight is one of those nights…

I know most of my followers don’t care about my new nerdy hobby of listening to shortwave radio and number stations, but this is pretty cool. There’s this weird, Russian number station called “The Buzzer”. It emits a repetitive, monotonous buzzing sound 24/7 as a channel marker (you can hear it at the end of this video), and then randomly, whenever they have some kind of message, someone speaks a bunch of letters and numbers in Russian. I usually don’t keep that frequency on for more than like a minute because that repetitive buzzing sound stresses me out, but last night I kept it on in the background for a few minutes for some reason and then I heard the voice come on and hit the record button on the websdr. Anyway, because these stations are so mysterious and because this one only broadcasts messages sporadically, it’s fun to hear it.
