what are your most played songs/albums lately?

Thanks for the ask. 💕 I’ve been grading and working in my office a lot lately, which is where my record player is. These three albums have been on heavy rotation: The Replacements (always), Okkervil River, and Can.

The CAN, Brixton. A small indie music venue with mystery acts every Saturday. Is it a big name? An upcoming student band? You’ll just have to wait and see.

Ever developed something extensively even though it’s only included maybe in one scene (if that scene survives, otherwise only mentioned in a throwaway line)? Welcome to The CAN! 

The CAN is a small concert venue in a converted warehouse in Brixton, London. It was established in 1997 as a student club and continues to focus on upcoming student bands. The name is a nod to the krautrock band, Can, and one of the founder’s extensive collection of pop art and tin cans that both now surround the bar area.

In a certain scene, Isaac is invited out by Laurie to join the music crowd who are all there because Penny is there, who is there because she always will be every Saturday night she can. In turn, Isaac invites Marcia to try to rekindle their strained friendship while Marcia finds it a little difficult to continue keeping her visions secret. So that brings the total up to three known underage people with supernatural powers in a crowded club of a couple of hundred.

Isaac checked his bag, once, twice, forgetting both times what he had been looking for. His memory was hazy and if he really thought about it, he didn’t exactly remember how he ended up in this corridor. Isaac checked his phone: 13:00 -- lunch. He checked his timetable: last period -- music. That was a long walk not to remember.

“Hey Isaac, you disappeared.”

He looked up from his bag and at Laurie, looming. Isaac hadn’t noticed how much the height difference actually was. No wonder he always put Marcia on edge — she didn’t like someone else having the higher ground.

“Did I?” Isaac said, feigning ignorance.

“So I wanted to ask you something.”

“You did?”

“Yeah, I think I mentioned it in class, but that essay was confusing and long so I don’t blame you for forgetting.”

Isaac definitely remembered the blank page. He wondered if Laurie knew how little he had written too. Maybe what he said was a jab at Isaac for forgetting and being lazy or—

“So anyway.” Laurie heaved a deep breath. “Penny is taking the music lot to The CAN for a gig this weekend. Taking… I mean, she’s dragging us all to keep her company, so I wondered if I could drag you too?”

Listen. I just have a lot of feeling about the character Vincent Griffith. He is such a beautiful character and I honestly don't think he gets the recognition from the fan basis that he deserves. He's been through SO much and is constantly fighting against all odds and winning. ALSO LET ME JUST SAY THAT YUSUF IS AN ACTING ANIMAL AND IM ALWAYS IMPRESSED BY HIS ACTING! AS AN ACTOR IM CONSTANTLY STUNNED BY HOW HE PORTRAYS VINCENT AND GIVES HIM SUCH BEAUTIFUL LAYERS AND I JUST FEEL A LOT ABOUT HIM AND VINCENT AND YEAH.
