Carrier Golfo de Mexico
Carrier Golfo de Mexico is the smallest of the seven Carrier sisters. This does not mean that she is lacking any of the power that is her right as a Carrier, but it does grant her a speed and maneuverability that her older sisters cannot muster.
Although she is smaller than all of the other carriers, Carrier Golfo de Mexico has a reputation for being the first to settle any conflict that might arise between the Empire’s many inhabited worlds.
Although the Empire’s final word is that warring parties must be separated, humans are human, and will always be. Wars, large and small, do break out. When this happens, the Empire sends someone to separate the feuding parties.
Generally, the someone they send is Carrier Golfo de Mexico, traveling with a convoy of continental-class destroyers. Of course, this convoy also includes expert negotiators, and a council of senators chosen for their impartiality. If the conflict is particularly bad, the emperor himself will also attend, to lend the weight of his authority to the situation.
Even so, Carrier Gulfo de Mexico is not exclusively, or even primarily, a ship of war.
Gulfo City is vivacious. Brilliant colors explode from everywhere, and the residents of the Carrier are frequently caught shining in a thousand languages as they go about their work. Though comparatively small, Gulfo City is thickly populated with cultures from every reach of the Empire. This multicultural attitude carries into frequent festivals, as every culture of the Empire celebrates their holidays.
Great dragon dances weave their way through painted skills, and thrown handfuls of brilliantly colorful dust. Food of every conceivable shape and flavor come out of the homes and restaurants to be shared with anyone willing to stop and share a story. Although Gulfo de Mexico does not have the great fields to grow for the brewers, stocks of wheat, honey, grapes, and many other things pour in with every food shipment.
The brews of Gulfo City are potent indeed, and can be a wicked lesson to anyone unwary enough to take them lightly.
But even so, the people of Gulfo City are warm and welcoming, and the unwary traveler who overindulges may well wake on the couch of a stranger, with a blanket over them, and a glass of water close at hand.
Carrier Gulfo de Mexico does not hold with ceremony except only as much as it matters to her residents. The air of this smallest Carrier is decidedly casual. While not as wild as Caribbean, Gulfo de Mexico offers a warmth where Caribbean offers fun.
Like all of her sisters, Carrier Gulfo de Mexico is decorated with breathtaking works of art. Her particular flavor, as many of the Carriers have something of a theme, is works of history.
All along her grand corridors, Gulfo de Mexico carries carved stone stile, statues created by masters, and paintings done by the hands of those who never dreamed of a life beyond their own jewel of a planet. While most of the oldest are replicas of even older works, their age alone makes them priceless in their own right.
A trip through Gulfo de Mexico’s hallways is a trip through the history of Earth, and all the Others who sprang up alongside humanity.
Not alone are the works of Human hands.
Brilliant glistening swaths of Faerie fabric form curtains in sheltered alcoves, embroidered with tiny glittering script. Towering trees fill pocket-gardens, the domain of dryads who cannot travel far from their trees, but who still wish to see the galaxy. Elves inlay tiny shards of glass into gleaming metal that is forged by careful Dwarvish hands.
The grand ballroom, although not as large as the one in Atlantica or even in Caribbean, boasts one truly spectacular feature.
The ceiling is a mosaic of dragon scales, large and small, of every color imaginable. This mosaic is not completed, and may never be, as every new dragon to be born adds a scale to it when they come of age. It is a great swirling creation that evokes many things, but is deliberately nothing specific. The intention of this piece is to represent the ever-changing, ever-growing nature of the empire itself.
Carrier Golfo de Mexico is, at her heart, the place where peace is forged. Everything from her grand apartments to the tier upon tier of smaller homes stacked into her walls, a vast outer shell, is tailored to smooth the way. Gulfo City is where the great politicians bring their deals, and their enemies when the time has come to finally lay old grudges aside.
And this youngest sister of the great Imperial Carriers, although she was crafted as a weapon of war, offers a bouncing tranquility that never fails to warm the hardest of hearts.
