Highlands and Horses Chapter 22 The Croft
She is taking to her and Marsali’s new home. “We are still doing some work on it but, will have it ready in the next few days.” Brian says as they lead her there.
“That is perfect. I thought I would have to spent weeks, or even months finding something I could afford, something safe. Needed a job first. Seemed the mountains were to steep, that it would take forever to get my baby back. But you, wonderful people, have turned those steep mountains to mole hills. I can’t thank you enough!”
“Just live the life you both deserve and that is thanks enough.” Jamie replies.
“I just may be able to now.”
The house is bigger then she imagined. Brick with flowers growing about it, it screams home. Welcome. Safe. All words her and Marsali need to hear. Brian opens the door.
“Oh wow!” The living room is fully furnished. Someone with a good eye has decorated it.
“I wanted it to feel like home when you entered.” Jenny explains. It does. From the throw pillows to the candles, the soft rug to the throws across the furniture, it all feels comfortable.
“You achieved that.”
“The kitchen has modern appliances. The old feel is kept in the walls and floors, as well as the table which is older then all is combined.” Brian explains as they lead her that way.
“It is exquisite.” The wooden floors, the brick and wooden walls, and the heavy wooden table, make the kitchen a showplace.
“It has two bedrooms. One loo. Sorry about that. It is where we are still working.. adding a stand alone shower to the claw tub. The bedrooms are furnished but not decorated. We assume you are Marsali wish to add your own style there.”
When the tour is over, she turns to them. “You could let this place for three times more then you are charging me.”
“It isn’t about the money. There is nothing on Lallybroch estate that isn’t owned free and clear and hasn’t been for generations. The only reason we are charging you anything is to satisfy Family Services.” Brian explains.
“My mam didn’t raise a fool. Thank you. This wonderful home is perfect for Marsali and I.”
“Wonderful. We will have you in by the end of the week.”

Went to visit my aunt and uncle in Collingwood for a few days this week, right after a beautiful snowfall that stayed on all the trees and made everything so pretty.

Can we pray for this wee chookie please? I was putting all the chickens to bed and realised she had foamy eyes and was sneezing and looking overall yucky, which is a sign of MG (a respiratory infection).
I've segregated her into the barn and put her in a little dog cage with antibiotics and feed and a thick bed of straw and a horse rug covering the cage.
Hopefully she'll be okay, but she'll be the first thing I check on in the morning.
