A Personal Addendum: I do not, as a general rule, have two fucks to give about shipping wank. This may be an artifact of having seen it all before and bigger and generally just as vicious, though with significantly less of a self-righteous candy glaze. I do, however, feel compelled to comment on one thing.
To those who are feeling the need now to engage in Schadenfreudalicious ship-bashing while other people are in pain and shock: don’t. Just...do not. There is no fandom, there is no ship within any fandom, that does not have the metaphorical fifteen dead hookers and a dog buried in the crawlspace under its immaculate from the outside fannish house. I know it may seem absolutely irresistible at this point to lord it over others from your place atop what seems to be a more pure and worthy ship but let me politely suggest that you refrain. Kicking others when they’re down does not make you righteous -- it makes you an asshole.
Embrace not being an asshole.
