Went to St. Pete on a small birthday adventure!

I'd planned to go to The Dali finally, since I've been meaning to since I moved home, but then I also happened to drive by the sign for the Sunken Gardens on my way to a random lunch spot and decided I could use a second adventure. A++ on both counts, will look at paintings and plants again.

The Dali museum has a wish tree in the garden so I wrote down a birthday wish of my own to tie to it. A thing I've been working on for a while now, but which I really want to get better at in the next year as I (hopefully, with some bravery) start dating a bit. Er, not that I think anyone on OKC is gonna like, fall in love with me, but the very idea that it could happen is what keeps me from making connections at all. So. Love. Who couldn't use more of that??

Here's to another year of continuing to exist as a human shaped person, and all the art and pretty plants that can bring me.

Crew trapped on Baltimore ship, seven weeks after bridge collapse

Morale is low for the Dali's crew members, who are stranded on board by the ongoing investigation into the tragedy.

According to Mr Messick, the crew has been left largely without communication with the outside world for "a couple of weeks" after their mobile phones were confiscated by the FBI as part of the investigation. "They can't do any online banking. They can't pay their bills at home. They don't have any of their data or anyone's contact information, so they're really isolated right now," Mr Messick said. "They just can't reach out to the folks they need to, or even look at pictures of their children before they go to sleep. It's really a sad situation."

It could be weeks, if not months, before the crew, mostly Indian nationals, will be able to return home.

The more pressing needs are psychological, say Mr Messick and Mr Bahri. The former said that combating tedium and boredom when not working is among the greatest challenges when seafarers are isolated for long periods. Many of the mariners - who are often young - will turn to video games and social media to pass the time. "The happiest [ships] are the ones where the crew can come together and enjoy each other's company," Mr Messick said. "But that's not always the case."
