Reading Jude Watson's The Dark Rival, the second book in the Jedi Apprentice series, and it's just. I'm howling. I haven't met an author yet who can write Qui-Gon without placing some kind of emphasis on his size:
I swear if I see the words "big man" anywhere in this book I'm going to crack open a bottle of champagne and drink the entire thing myself.
And the Quiobi vibes are off the chart. (This is from Chapter Two.)
Were they sleeping together? Was there only one "sleep-couch"? (Probably, because the Meerians don't have much wealth or fancy accommodations.)
So Qui-Gon wakes from a bad dream and goes to brood at the window while Obi-Wan pretends to be asleep but he really isn't; instead he's watching Qui-Gon and thinking about how badly he wants to be his padawan.
It's adorable. And sad. Poor little Obi-Wan, he just wants a master.
