a rough sketch of the teller of the dark things poem. feel free to improve on this based on what you read...
The Dark Things
The Dark Things linger in the shadows, Howling there beyond my reach. Sentencing me to the deathly gallows, Thieving from me: my thoughts, my speech.
Through cracks The Dark Things creep and crawl, Scarce but in plain sight. Beneath my feet they maim and maul And drag me down into the night. Their writhing bodies follow me Whispering my name; Their blood as black as ebony feeds on my sins and shame. I cannot run nor hide from what Now thrives inside my soul: This demonic plague of parasites Leaving dying hearts and coal.
My friends think that I've gone insane, That I'm a fool to fear; But I see them leached onto your shoulder Sending thoughts into your ears. The Dark Things live inside us all And slither though dim streets, But I wear the lens and I see the gore To set the whole world free.
And so, my friend, next time you feel Faint taps upon your shoulder, See a movement in the shadows Or feel your blood run colder: Remember that they're watching you, They're oozing in your bed. Heed my words they're stalking you Until the day your dead.
