Book 22 of the 50 book challenge. The Decendants by Kaui Hart Hemmings. This was turned into a movie starring George Clooney. It is a novel about grief and loss. I saw the movie a very long time ago and saw the book in a used book store so I thought I’d read it. It was pretty good, but sad.

Isle Of The Lost......
First (and last?) book of The Descendants series by Melissa De La Cruz. Not one of her bests... Granted, this is for younger audiences, not a twenty year old. It's wonderfully written-for a fan fiction... All of Disney's classic villains are banished to another land and have children. Maleficence's daughter, Mal is a spoiled little mean girl and The Evil Queen' daughter, Evie is her target. It's Jay (Jafar's son) and Mal against Evie and Carlos (Cruella's son) to come up with the most evil prank-that is if Mal doesn't get too distracted with Princes.
Melissa tried way too hard to make bad seem good, it just made the book, well, bad. But then again you can make any book into a movie nowadays.... Life around us is turning into Farenheit 451. Although I'm not fond of this book, I'm still going to watch the movie to see how everything looks on the screen. Disney has a way of making things magical, right? Look at Grimm's Fairy Tales!
Not everyone is bad in this book, sometimes we see the perspective of Ben, Belle and King Beast's son as well as a few others. He dreams of a girl in a distant land as Mal dreams of a boy in a different world. Could they be dreaming of each other? Like Ariel and Eric they'll have to see where their different lifestyle's land them, or if their love life is cursed like Ariel's voice once was...
Eventually the book becomes more interesting. Malificent's bird, Diablo is unfrozen and claims to have found The Dragon Eye that will finally let the villains be free. Maleficent sends Mal to go find it and free them all. Word gets around and several classmates want to make their parent's proud also by finding the Eye.

The Decendants...
On one hand, it's a lame AU fan fic that got published and tries to add dub step and rap to Disney songs On the other, it's so stupid I want to watch to see how bad it would get. However, I cannot as the movie causes me physical pain every time I try to watch it. I actually couldn't get through the first 2 minutes. Just too much stupid.

Just a message to everyone out there thinkin that FOB and MCR are punk because they aren't. I said it, they aren't punk. They are pop punk at the most. Actual punk bands are Minor Threat, The Decendants, Guttermouth, The Circle Jerks, Dead Kennedys, Bikini Kill, NoFX, and the list goes on.
