Maybe i haven't been paying attention or maybe the movie's lighting design is total shit but I have no idea what manner of beast is in this film

I'm just now locking in an hour and change into this movie and I was worried based on the premise we were gonna have some reductive stereotypical 'poor people in Appalachia scawwy' bullshit. So I was very excited when it was revealed to be creachers in the first few minutes
Ok so they 'breed and colonize like ants and bees' but they're bipedal???? Obviously endoskeletal. I don't know much about entomology but I don't think it's necessarily a viable evolutionary strategy to have a hive based species wherin your drones require that much goddamned nutrition in order to operate? Like there is a reason ants and bees are relatively small. Once again it begs the question what in the fresh hell were they eating in the interim between the mine being closed and these douchebags opening it again. Like the things are fucking BIG they require SUSTENANCE for chrissakes. Plus what in fuck is going on with the faces. I liked the 'queen' design, all the teeth moving was cool. And I get that they're people in suits but this is a WATSONIAN analysis so fuck that.
Anyways at least the ones in the descent I was like. Ok that's not how evolution works but I guess you could like. Maybe arrive at that theory. But this? There is no way divergent evolution would lead to this and convergent evolution is WAY more likely to make a crab. Like we are a fuck-ass weird species and there's absolutely no reason anything would evolve to be bipedal, endoskeletal, and 6'2 in a subterranean environment ESPECIALLY if they are a hive based species.
I was really gunning for something vaguely more supernatural with the initial discussion about religion/superstition v provable science but given this was directed by a white guy that definitely would've gotten into tropes that are insensitive at best. As it is we just have complete indigenous erasure, which. Not the point I'm here to talk about monster design.
