A Song for the New Year
It’s become tradition for me to pick a song to set the tone for the new year. I look for a song that has energy - something that makes me want to move. This year’s pick is “Six Days A Week” by The Bronx:

As previously mentioned, I saw The Bronx play in December and you haven’t truly lived until you’ve seen a punk Santa Claus dancing and screaming “There’s a real thin line between crime and suicide.” The energy of this song just gets into my head and makes me sing it, makes me dance to it. Given that I’m trying to be more productive in 2016, I find the line “Six days no sleep / I keep my eyes wide open” inspiring and it serves as a reminder to keep creating.
Ultimately, it’s all about inspiration and motivation. This song puts me in the mood to be creative, to keep going, to push through roadblocks.
There are some days when it becomes impossible for me to work in silence and putting a song on endless repeat really helps me out. After a few repetitions it becomes part of a trance almost. It becomes meditation and allows me to focus.
The next time you’re feeling stuck, try putting your favorite song on repeat and see what happens. Has anyone picked a song for 2016?
