How reading any statement from the duffer brothers about the show feels:

after byler is endgame, there needs to be an interview with shawn levy, the duffers, noah, finn and millie where they go into every single detail of how and why they made byler happen. I need to know every thought behind it. They need to address all the gates. It needs to be upwards of 2 hours long. If you think I’m kidding I’m being so very 100% serious rn this needs to happen and I will not be able to sleep eat or breathe without it

We’re not “mad because our ship didn’t happen”. We’re frustrated because we were made to care about these characters and their relationship and were given multiple in-story signals that there was a real romantic potential but were ultimately left with ZERO narrative payoff and were made fun of by the creators themselves.

Matt Duffer about the show's message:

This is really a coming of age story. It just happens to have monsters in it. The final season's really about young adults making that final transition to adulthood, and so much of the show is really about finding out- finding your voice, figuring out who you are and overcoming all the obstacles and challenges that come with growing up. Hopefully the show has helped people like that, people who have struggled to fit in or find their place in the world. So when young people come up to us and say that it helped them or their friends in that capacity, that means the most, and hopefully this final season does the same.

I´m gonna say it, starting your season off with a close up shot of two 13-year olds making out is weird

the more you think about it, the more eps 6-8 feel like a collective sabotage. and it just peaks in the finale. it's really not just writing - the script itself is worse, sets are worse, cgi is worse, acting is worse (only jamie seems to be giving his 100%), extras act worse too, camerawork is worse, there is an insane amount of continuity errors, editing is worse too, the whole product just feels like a Slop.

the only moment it picks up again to its previous quality is the epilogue but then everything in it just seems deeply off. the acting is not straight up bad it's just very theatrical and lacks naturalness. there is a huge amount of references and easter eggs to the point you're overloaded by them, the amount of detail in the background is suddenly insane after very lackluster blue screen sets for the most of the episode. color grading, lighting, editing and sound feels better too but not like previously. it has this very intense vibe that hasn't been seen in stranger things before - the closest thing we've seen to it is henry's mindscape/camazotz.

they've had a whole year to write this, another year to shoot it and then another year for everything concerning post-production. i refuse to believe it's just a coincidence.
