If Sepideh does not win that damn Emmy trust they will have a problem
Each cast member of The Golden Girls winning the Outstanding Lead Actress in Comedy Series Emmy three years in a row (1986-1988)
#they're basically just mabel and oliver irl 😊❤️ Selena Gomez and Martin Short at the 2024 Emmys!
I don’t care who gets an Emmy tonight it should have been Jacob Anderson
every single white person from the main cast (not being even a little hyperbolic) was nominated. this bullshit is a fucking joke. can't wait for any of the winning speeches to praise the show's diversity.
watching that video of everyone celebrating 26 nominations was frustrating. they got 26 fucking nominations and only 2 of them directly recognize the work of poc. award shows have always been a joke to me for several reasons i dont even want to get into but whether or not this happened because of the television academy voters or the network's failure to recognise and submit the rest of the cast, this is so fucking loud and telling.
i think those nominated are extremely talented, but you cannot deny the writing of the show didn't consistently provide many of them the material to showcase what they're capable of, so yeah i'm surprised who got nominated and how many actors whose characters barely contributed to the emotional weight/melodrama (drama category mind you) got recognised.
literally continuing a precedent the show set. and i have been continually disappointed every time i have learned something related to the pitt since s2's release.
the optics are terrible. they reinforce a pattern that award shows have been criticised for for years, that i criticise the pitt execs/writers for: celebrating diversity when it's useful for marketing, then disproportionately rewarding/featuring the same kinds of performers.
