I know this isn’t what “keep the balance” actually means but I can’t stop thinking about a scenario where there’s an influx of spirits and humans in one place (maybe cause of that permanent portal that opens up at the end of LoK) and there’s evil spirits attacking humans and evil humans attacking spirits and the innocents from both sides keep screaming out for the Avatar’s help and the Avatar is rushing around, bending all the elements, figuring out quickly on their feet who’s the victim in each situation, and helping them out before rushing to the next cry of their name
And although I love the plot they had for LoK, I think that also could’ve been a great setup for Amon and the Equalists if Amon actually had been way more of a sympathetic anti-hero
Just this dude, whether he actually had been chosen by spirits or if that’s still a lie in this scenario, who has done an incredibly thorough job of studying spirits, recognizing immediately which ones would be the most likely to be maliciously attacking humans
Meanwhile, Korra is kicking ass with her three elements but maybe this is before she learns airbending and she can’t access the spirit world and she’s trying her best (and is succeeding for the most part) on protecting everyone but she’s not in the avatar state, she’s doing this all herself
And there’s just this cool moment of recognization that happens with everyone else as they watch her fight, they absolutely need the Avatar they shouldn’t have ever tried to say they didn’t need her, but needing the Avatar doesn’t mean that they have to drop everything on her
So immediately after this recognization, Tenzin and his kids join Korra and support her wherever she needs airbending, and Korra’s friends begrudgingly join forces with the Equalists who were not only taught how to fight by Amon but also got a ton of knowledge about spirits from him, so combined they all have a pretty idea of which humans were being shitty and which spirits were being shitty and acting accordingly
And maybe there’s a kickass final boss scene where Korra lays waste to them (most likely it’s Vaatu) because she’s the goddamn Avatar put some respect on her name, but there’s her friends and family and allies nearby stopping other spirits from coming over and helping Vaatu, this is between him and the Avatar
And also the entire time Amon just keeps yelling out facts about spirits and the spirit world to Korra, a good portion of it is useful but also a lot of it is just infodumping, he is enjoying himself immensely throughout this fight
*edit forgot to say I also specifically want a scene where Koh the Face Stealer slithers out into the human world and is immediately surrounded by the Equalists with masks on and realizes he made a mistake, do masks actually stop him? can’t remember but for this scenario they do
