When ever I'm reading a fic where someone gets tossed back in time and prevents Jason's Death Yolo style, I'm always thinking about the technological level of that time. Because he died in 1988. and I forget that writers (my self included sometimes) modernize the era. which means that if the BAtfam's present day is 2024, then Jason was killed in 2019 and revived just before or during the start of the 2020 pandemic.
The point is, that I'm imagining 1988 level tech. Pagers, House Phones on cords, The World Wide Web (which is where the www in urls comes from; in the past it indicated the specific server(s) used to handle webpage requests.) is just starting to hit outside the government/military in ways Civilians can access on a mainstream manner.
More rambling about the Tech Boom Jason missed below. Under the cut for length.

The 1980's to early 1990's was when governments and such were setting up the World Wide connection and arguing over regulations and standards for this new avenue of communication.
The Web opened to the public in 1991 and began to enter general use in 1993–4, when websites for everyday use started to become available.
Jason probably only knew anything about the WWW bc of Batman and Brucie Wayne's company branching into this growing tech! He died before Cellphones were common use!
Amazon was founded in 1994 and only sold books untill 1998!
The Netscape Navigator, Yahoo, MSN, came out in 1995.
Ask Jeeves of Ask.com came out in 1996
Google wasn't in the picture until 1998!
This is what a Cell Phone looked like in 1988, Vintage RadioShack lists the second one as State-Of-The-Art.
What I'm saying is, that When a Bat gets thrown back in time and acquires a Laptop to "google" or dig up information; It takes me a second to remember that the Tech they're working with is based on what was used and avaliable 4/5 years from Our Time here in the 2010's-2020's.
This isn't a critisim, it's just a thing I run into that's wild to me.
Listen, a lot of of how Neglectful and distant Tim's parents specifically are, is based on that fact. When back in 1988/1989, Tim was in boarding school, Cell Phones were not practical, so any calls would be made on Land Lines and International Calls were Astronomical in Cost.
One time in 2002ish, my brother and I were fooling around and called some Dude in Eqypt who was trying to convince us to marry him. It was a wild time. Anyway, that Call came up in the phone bill of around 200 to 300 bucks and the call only lasted two minutes tops bc we hung up in a panic bc we knew we were being stupid as hell.
His mother sent Tim a Postcard every week/month? And they were always signed Love, Mom & Dad, but Tim knew/suspected that his dad didn't actually have anything to do with the postcards and his mother just always added him, so Tim wouldn't feel like Jack didn't want him or something. They traveled for work because business meetings with international Clients/partners, couldn't be spoken with over a video call at the time. It's just good manners to visit them some of the time, and they in turn visit Gotham for negotiations and such.
During Holidays Tim's parents would take him everywhere they went! Even places Children generally weren't supposed to be. Not for appearance’s sake or to show off their Perfect Child, but because Janet (and Jack probably) wanted to include Tim in their activities, Tim describes his Mother leading the way to the theatre as "She always walked like she was in a hurry." But during the times Tim wasn't in school he was with his parents, in their homes in Gotham.
(because Tim didn't live in the Drake Manor near Bruce until after he was Robin and his Dad woke from the coma. Tim convinced him to buy the house specifically because it would be easiest to get to Wayne Manor from)
Anyway, I'm rambling. But here's some fun tidbits about Tech and the Drakes. I am always thinking about this, honestly. And it's cool to see how people handle the weird timelines of Comic Books, but to be totally honest. I think it's way funnier for whatever person is thrown back in time (or to the future!) has to deal with ALL the advancements of technology from 1989-2024 having happened in a 4-year time frame.
Tech evolving so fast. People going from corded landlines to small handheld computers. Imagine Talia trying to keep Jason isolated, not to keep him from Bruce, or to brainwash him or whatever, but because she's slowly introducing him to Modern Technology. Imagine Jason thinking this is just weird High Tech shit that the League just has so whatever, but getting to Gotham and finding out this shit is everywhere!
Desktops are So small now??? Laptops are portable and hold a battery life that's bascially insane!?
