Something I find fascinating that I think has been a bit overlooked in Hades II is that Charon no longer wears gold but is now wearing silver.
Obviously we know he’s collecting all of Chronos’ gold so it can be melted down and returned to the earth (according to Hephaestus at least), so maybe he’s just turned in his gold as well to try and restore the earth, but given that he still wears the obols from Hades’ reign and his ship is still absolutely covered in them, it’s probably not that.
I like to think this is his way of pledging himself to the Silver Sisters and the cause, subtly showing where he stands in this war. Nearly all the gold he wore is gone now, even his oar has been changed to one with silver waves instead of the golden one from the first game.
I just thought it was a nice touch and I wish more people noticed.
My Ancestors watch and guide my steps. I am where I am because I stand on their shoulders. Ase.
