Atticus needs to hire a new nanny to take care of June and he really likes this woman. It’s the first woman he’s ever really been interested in since him and Bea got divorced. Florence is kind and funny and there is this warmth that just seems to emanate from her.
Meet Cameron “Cam” Isaiah Fletcher and Beatrice “Bea” Saanvi Petrov
Bea is 39 and Cam is 38. She is 6 months pregnant with a surprise baby number six. The two met as students in Foxbury University when Cameron was confused as a girl and ended up roommates with Bea. The two developed a fast friendship and it turned into more at the end of their freshman year. After putting up with roommates for a year, the two decided to pool all their savings (Bea had a hefty inheritance from the accidental deaths of her parents when she was 16) and purchase a small modest townhouse in downtown Britechester. Little did they know, there wasn’t even plumbing when they moved in that fall.
They both cut back on their course loads, got jobs and before they knew it, their house was livable. Over time they’ve slowly built it up, the most recent expansion being a large furnished basement with a large living space, three offices, a bathroom and a bedroom. Bea’s prize addition to the house is the three story greenhouse filled with perfect farming plants, she grows the majority of the food the family consumes.
They’re not without their struggles though. Bea and Cam drank heavy in college, Bea crossing the line into alcoholism by the time they graduated. She attended rehab right after graduation. There she met her best friend, a drug dealer who lives across the river, Lilith Pleasant. Bea doesn’t really drink anymore, but now she is incredibly reliant on mdma and xanax, with some coke mixed in occasionally. She has overdosed twice, gone to rehab and signed herself out both times. Cam threw her out once, as she was pregnant at the time of the overdose. After almost losing the baby, Cam has never pushed it that far again. He doesn’t really know what to do anymore. He thought that now that the kids were starting to grow up, with their oldest having just moved out, that he might be able to take that drastic action in order to sober her up. But here she is, pregnant again. He just wishes she would stay sober through the pregnancy.
