So this is what I came home to...
"Look!, Kim, look!... we drew pictures today. I drew her and she drew me!" exclaimed Little Hiddles.
"They're both excellent likenesses... I think you should write your names on them and we should hang them on the fridge. Can you help her write your name on the picture she drew?" I replied.
Because "Little Hiddles" is a very long name and would take much too long to write, LH helped Baby Girl print a big "T-O-M" across the top of her page.
"Okay Little Bubbs, its your turn to write her name on top of her portrait..."
"B-bb-utt... I... uh, don't know her n-name" whispered and stuttered LH somewhat shamefully.
"What do you mean you don't know her proper name? You've been playing together for nearly three weeks!"
"I know... but every time I ask her she stutters and giggles and then runs away. Its not my fault you see," replied LH, "However I do know that it starts with K!"
"Well then, let me spell it for you. Be sure to leave lots of room because it has 9 letters.... K-I-M-B-E-R-L-E-Y."
"That spells Kimberley! Hey, you two have the same name!"
"That's right, Little Hiddles. I made her based on pictures of myself as a little girl. That way when I have to go off to work in the morning, I will always be around to play with you and you never have to be alone."
"Geez, that's sneaky!" replied LH.
"Call it what you like, but you know by now that she's a true friend and she adores you. Now, how about we put your pictures up on the fridge?"
"Okay, Kim.... and just in case I didn't say it before... thank you... I like having her around. She's a very good friend."
With that being said, LH and I toddled into the kitchen to hang the pictures. It was only as we put up Little Kimbee's picture that we noticed that she was no longer with us... that's when we heard a giggle coming from behind us... eager to draw again, she was just about to start her first mural... WITH RED CRAYON!!!
"Kimbee, NO!" cried Little Hiddles, "not on the walls! That's what the scratch pad is for!"
PS. I've attached the source photos that I used as inspiration for Little Kimbee. If anyone is interested in having a caricature doll made of someone in their life (children, grandchildren, etc.) I do accept comissions. For further info, please email [email protected].
