He was willing to literally let himself and the universe burn if it meant she would be alive❤️
4.5 billion years...
Ugh, I may redo this to get a better quality in the first clip and a more satisfying end.

Summary:
For seven thousand years, Nerdanel lived alone in the great, empty house that once rang with the sound of hammer on anvil and the laughter of seven sons.
Now Fëanor and his sons, newly pardoned, have been rebodied - but how does one resolve seven millennia of heartbreak and bitterness?
Nerdanel and Fëanor, and the rekindling of their first, flickering flame.
Compliant to events of The Ransom of the House of Fëanor, but can be read entirely separately.
Chapter 1: Flickering Embers
Nerdanel’s husband and sons have returned, and though she is glad to see her sons again, there is the problem of Fëanor, and their seven thousand years of separation.
Now, if only Fëanor would stop leaving gifts for her, and if she could simply look at him without thinking of him riding away to Formenos...
So I realised a thing about writing today
Previously I always had a feeling I shouldn’t go back and edit finished works if I wanted to add or subtract a line or two. But today I reviewed The Last Ember, the Fourth Age Fëanor/Nerdanel reconciliation fic I wrote and posted back in October last year, and was like - I always wanted to add a kiss to the final moment of their realisation of their mutual pining, but never did because I’d somehow thought that a completed fic was a completed fic and going back to it somehow would cheapen the whole thing.
But today I was like No. I have always imagined this scene to end in a kiss and now it will-
So I added the line. And now the scene is perfect. Not that it wasn’t perfect in a way before, but now I am absurdly pleased with it like an artist who has added one final stroke to completed painting, and in doing so made it exactly what they envisioned.
So yes. Adding or editing finished fic months or years after the fact doesn’t cheapen the original posting at all; it’s adding the finishing touches to a work that you know would make it shine even brighter.

Chapter 2/2: Rekindling
In which Nerdanel and Fëanor finally realise the pining is mutual.
My twin is as excited about the final chapter of The Last Ember as I am
I wrote all 5433 words of it in five hours yesterday and will be posting at 12 PM EST. Fëanor and Nerdanel may not have marriage counseling but they have the power of the angst with a happy ending tag on their side
