1. Basics! Name, age, personality, etc. What do they look like? Are they a new or old oc?

Jasmine “Jazz” Davenport, 25~ years old, asshole, brand new Outer Worlds OC. I have her in-game appearance, but I think I like her Sim even more.

To expand on personality more than just asshole, Jazz is cynical, sarcastic and distrusting. She had issues with authority even before getting to Halcyon, and is more stand-offish and aggressive than is helpful to anyone. She’s smart and incredibly perceptive, but lacks confidence about it due to a lack of academic ability.

She’s capable of being friendly, as long as she’s in a good mood and not speaking to someone she thinks is stuck up, but is still generally pretty distant until she gets to know people. She’s also incredibly devoted to her few friends, but isn’t about to admit that.

13. What do they want to do afterwards? - but do they get a happy ending?

Jazz isn’t really a planner, and hasn’t thought further than “rescue Sammie, let Phineas carry out whatever plan he has, make sure Sammie’s okay, Sammie can plan things she’s good at that.” She has hazy ambitions of toppling the Board, and once that’s done and Sammie’s back, everything will be fine.

Obviously, things don’t work out quite like that, and at the actual end of the game, Jazz is deeply grieving Sammie’s death, and has a long way to go, but she eventually starts to heal and has a happy life. She keeps in contact with all of her companions, and I think she keeps travelling with Ellie, Max, and Felix. (I’m not a fan of, “found family all go their separate ways at the end of the adventure,” and while Parvati and Nyoka have specific places they want to be, I don’t think it’s hard to combine, “flying around on supply missions, helping and rebuilding wherever is needed,” especially since I think Jazz needs people with her for a while.) She visits Parvati and Nyoka when she can, and keeps in electronic communication. Jazz and Ellie eventually admit they have feelings for each other and start dating properly. Eventually, Jazz will be okay.

16. What’s their love language?

Acts of service. Jazz is bad at showing affection, generally, but she’ll go to the ends of the earth for her companions, whatever bullshit they ask of her in her companion quests. It’s no big deal she was just… in the area (after flying there specifically to help them out). She’s generally a selfish person, but when Sammie or her companions need help with something, Jazz will be there.

Childhood nickname answered here, gist is Orion's parents called her Cadet because that's all she was to them, Nero didn't even have an actual name until they were like 15, and Valya didn't have a name until they were 25/26.

Do they have a middle name?

Orion does not, but her name is actually hyphenated! Legally, she's Orion Carter-Bailey. She's always only gone by Orion Carter, though, and hasn't changed that yet.

Nero doesn't, either. They're just Nero Velox, and that's fine. Their wasteland cover name also doesn't, Quinn Coleman, that's it, that's all.

Valya. Right. So yes, but no lol I do think they have 2 middle names, but I still don't know what they are. The current toss-up is them being at a loss and just stealing Julia's (Esperanza Maria) or using Ric's (Felipe Jose) because he isn't here to use them. Or something completely different! I'm honestly not sure, I just know that they have them.

What side of the bed do they sleep on?

Orion sleeps on the left side of the presidential suite, but really, it's just whichever is closest to the doorway. Too many bad early wasteland nights, near the door and pistol under her pillow.

Nero genuinely loves sleeping on the ground. Nothing like laying in the dirt and looking up at the stars. But if they find themself in an actaul bed, they sleep right in the middle. Might as well enjoy the space, right? If they're sharing with someone else, they also prefer to go closer to the door. Or a window. Whatever's immediately available and closest.

Valya's actual bed in their base is a twin, so they're just on that, no sides to specificly sleep on really (and their feet hang off the end). When sharing with Julia, they like the left, but would take the right if she asked tbh.

When was their first kiss?

Orion's was in 2103 with Orlando. It was after her recovery at the Whitespring, when she was still around the Refuge and looking to join the Responders. This was before they were dating, they were still friends with benefits at the time. First kiss as partners came in spring 2014.

Nero likes to talk a big game about past flings and dates, talks themself up a good deal. They are lying. Nero's first kiss was sometime in 2282 with Cass. Coincidentally also their first time getting drunk. And their first time getting laid. Was quite the night. (Hehe AU the former talk big game still stands. Their first kiss was Toni 🥰)

Valya's first kiss wasn't nice. That would be their handler around 1999. Their first kiss that they actually wanted was in 2009 with Anathema, but the memory is being replaced with the 2009 kiss with Julia due to the self gaslighting post Heartbreak.

What was their childhood nickname? Across the board for the whole gang!

Ahh my nemesis. Nicknames. However, it's childhood nicknames, and 3/4 of the gang [checks notes] didn't really have a/much of a childhood. Winning?

Orion Carter: Her parents referred to her as Cadet quite often, certainly not an affection nickname, though. She wasn't allowed to hang around the other vault kids, and her schooling was limited, so no friends to give nicknames there. Some of the Vault staff would call her Red, she liked that one.

Jasper Hawthorne: Jas was always a popular one. I think some people would use her middle name (Kayce) on occasion. Her surname (McCoy) was more common, though. Her dad called her Pumpkin when she was very little, then bud when she was older. Her mom called her Dear and Sweetie.

Nero Velox: Nero didn't even have an actual name for most of their childhood, so in a sense, they had a lot of nicknames as they'd just go with whatever each outpost/village assigned them.

Valya Galdin: They were decanted at age 11, so technically room for some childhood, there just wasn't any. They also obviously didn't have a name either, and their handler didn't start using a very non-affectionate nickname for them until post HB.

Hey hey hey! I'd love to hear about a time when a character or story developed in a direction you weren't expecting!

I’ll talk about Charlie’s inclusion in Somewhere in the Woods, Waiting. Around the same time I was changing the Brucille Cryptid AU’s setting from Victorian times to the modern-day Northwest US (heavily inspired by Gravity Falls) the new run of the Hulk comics just came out.

I saw a lot of pages on the tag, including the fact that Hulk now had long hair like I was planning on doing in my AU, and the character of Charlie. She’s a huge fan of him, wants to travel with him and hopefully gain powers of her own, and so I decided to add her in as “the one person who believes in the cryptid”.

And as the comic went on and we learned more about her and how depressing and frightening her past and her present were… I decided she was going to be part of Bruce and Lucille’s found family. The AU where everyone is happy.

Dylan sighed as he went back into the room, his suit a mess and his hair disheveled after a fight. Soleil got up from the bed and went over to him, a frustrated look on her face.

“Where were you? I was starting to think you were dead,” she spoke, her worry coming across as anger. He just looked up and smirked.

“I can’t tell if you want to kiss me or kick my ass right now,” he mumbled, and she rolled her eyes before picking him up. Dylan looked straight into Soleil’s eyes in surprise before she pulled him into her soft body and into a rough kiss.
