Orin Playthrough Photodump - Act One

I saw a tiktok of like book recommendations for different BG3 Characters and it seemed really cool but I majorly disagree with one thing. Wyll would NOT be into some cool actual adult novel or fiction series. That guy is a fairy tale prince who believes in the wholeness of good versus evil. (And sometimes struggles with black/white thinking)

Wyll’s actual favorite book is ‘A Horse and His Boy’ (Narnia, CS Lewis).

Thinking about how much Gortash objectively sucks when compared to the Dead Three's other chosen.

Ketheric is a cool unkillable war general serving the literal god of death, Orin is a shapeshifting killer who could be anyone and anything that's proven to even infiltrate his own quarters. And Gort? He's a regular Joe. Smarter than a lot of people, sure, talented, but he's just soft squishy flesh. And he's a total wiener to boot.

I think their intro cutscene is a great demonstration of this. He agitates Ketheric on purpose by sassing him and then bringing up his dead daughter, and when he's on the verge of getting his shit wrecked, he hides behind Orin who CAN'T attack him. He's a sniveling nerd who needs the muscle of others (and the intelligence, and the physical BODIES in some cases) to get his work done. He can't accomplish anything on his own. Even if things go his way and the players partner up with him? The Netherbrain wipes him out.

He just sucks, and I love that about him.

I've upgraded my Orin art game. especially with hair. I used to not give a damn about shapes, color, details, or presentation. Now I'm hyperfixated on rendering her hair. You can totally tell in my recent stuff

My hc of a younger Minthara «puppy eyes» Baenre based on her early access version. I imagine she was also a very different person to when we first meet her in the game.

She seemed a bit more "open-minded" (for lolthite drow standarts) at times and that's how I imagine she used to be long ago, until her abusive mother molded her into someone who presents and acts in a way more befitting a proper daughter of house Baenre.

I emphasise a lot on Skjære's relationship with his father because I set his upbringing as a foil to Minthara and her mother.

While Skjære had a loving parent (who would maybe be deemed "abusive" by lolth drow standarts) who saved him from a lifetime of pain and insanity as a drider. Minthara had a mother that tormented and molded her into a mad, bitter, and bloodthirsty creature in her own way as a form of «setting her up for success»

My number one favorite thing to do with the dream guardian on durge playthroughs is to make as close an approximation I can of Orin (Even after everything, in the depth of your heart, the face of love is still your sister. Yes, even now.) (she saved you without knowing it and now she will have to die in your stead and it will have to be by your hand and you will have to carry on knowing she had died hating you, had died afraid, had died in chains, and you will never be able to tell her that you see her in children drawing, dancing, leaping, alive in a way you never knew to appreciate until it was too late. You will never be able to tell her that you would trade places in a heartbeat, if you could.)

My second favorite thing to do is hitting the randomize button until I stumble upon something truly cursed, because it tickles me to think of the emperor trying to make sense of durge's lobotomized brain and pretty much throwing spaghetti at the wall until something sticks

Playing Durge in act 2 making the failed attempts at redeming Ketheric is really funny if you bank on the idea that Ketheric fucking hated Durge before and Durge did everything in their power to annoy him. Imagine your least favourite coworker comes back from the dead and starts talking about 'redemption'. Like this must be batshit from Ketheric's perspective
