'Kola (Lighthouse Version)' by amiina, from 'The Lighthouse Project'
I'm intrigued by your Captain character, could you tell me a little about her?? 👀
:))) ABSOLUTELY!!!
And, I got these from @soft-round-bees When I first talked about her so! Double whammy, I'll explain em both, and their relationship with eachother!
[ID: A response to a post from @/soft-round-bees that reads "heey this is so cool i love the creepy ship / and what's going on with the Friend that sounds ominous" End ID]
So The Captain runs her ship over to different docks around Scotland (bc I'm a bitch, it's my horror story and I decide to make it set in my home country) and eventually, a few years after his 'accident', he runs into a Friend, a man who calls himself The Keeper.
[ID: A paper sketch of a man that was coloured digitally. He is white, with greyed black hair, and he wears an ivory mask that looks like a stylised bird head. There is two plates on the mask that are gold and grey in colour. You cannot see his eyes through the eyeholes, and instead they are a dark black. He is wearing a beige shirt that is lightly striped, with black arm bands and a dark green waistcoat. The waist coat has golden buttons. He wears a cravat and a Dark green top hat, the latter of which has a white flower in the band and the top of it is only attached at one side. The signature reads "Ace" with a spade at the end, which has a diamond drawn into the heart section. It is underlined with a striped triangle. End ID]
This is The Keeper! The Keeper is a very secretive man who always wears his mask around people. He owns the lighthouse that most of the story takes place in.
He meets The Captain at the Docks nearby one night, and, well, the rest is history :)
Although not pictured above, he usually wears a dark green coat, which has an enamel pin like The Captain's, except his is filled in completely black.
The Captain regards him as her greatest friend, although their relationship appears to be slightly rocky. Talks of deals, certain meetings, and that The Keeper is Destined to go "too far" are all things that William, our main character, pick up on his boat ride there. This doesn't change that The Captain shows up very frequently, often talking with The Keeper in hushed tones and away from people.
And now! Some stupid Captain Facts because I Love Her So Much!
- She likes cats, and claims to have one of his own, although we never see a cat on his ship.
- He's very scatterbrained when she speaks, often jumping from topic to topic without really answering the question given. She'll get there though, eventually
-She appears to be the only onboard the ship, although he talks greatly about the crew. Notable characters include:
The Chef: 'Pigsy', and his unnamed wife, a hopeless romantic and astounding cook.
The Co-Captain. Never named, although his help is always "greatly appreciated".
The Navigator, "Shelly", and her maps. Once The Captain got lost in her map room off the ship, as it was built like a maze.
The Showman, known as both "Kitty" and "Samuel", a great magician and showman, tasked with entertainment on the cruise.
- It's not clear whether or not the crew are real, or if her memory is fading like the tide.
- Sometimes calls himself "Cap'n" when talking about/to himself
If I can get the Thought Process™ right I'm absolutely talking about The Captain and The Keeper none of you can stop me <3
I'm writing a thing called The Lighthouse Project and I've not said anything about it yet so therefore all of you are being subjected to my ramblings!
I need to draw The Keeper and The Man bc they're the other two major characters and I'm just
Rotates them in my mind <3
The Lighthouse Project is an EP by amiina from Iceland, released on June 7, 2013. The songs were originally played during a summer 2009 concert tour in Iceland where amiina played at small and unusual locations, such as the Dalatangaviti lighthouse. Except for the last song, the songs on The Lighthouse Project were recorded "live" in studio trying to reproduce the atmosphere of the original performances. The last song is a 2009 recording from the Dalatangaviti lighthouse, shown on the cover and referenced by the longitude/latitude song name. During the time leading up to the release of The Lighthouse Project the band's label released two teaser videos depicting the Icelandic landscape and eventually a full video of the band playing the first track Perth inside Dalatangaviti lighthouse.
Some of the songs, such as Hilli and Kola, originate from the band's first album Kurr, while the song Leather and Lace originally appeared on their collaboration single Hilli (At The Top Of The World) with Lee Hazlewood.
