OK, that other thing wasn't enough for right now, I also want to talk about why the lilo sketch is SO GOOD OH MY GOD I'M CRYING JUST THINKING ABOUT IT

Putting it below a spoiler cutoff just in case though I don't think it needs it-

OK so- why is it that a sketch where I didn't know what a lilo was until about halfway through (I googled it) still made me cry basically immediately?

I think fundamentally the thing about it that made me just freeze up was the raw viscerality of air and breath as used in this context. Dealing with the passing of a loved one is SUCH a common and universal experience, and any sketch could have done that with "how COULD you shatter her favorite coffee mug" or something, but the idea of something that's not just as seemingly insignificant as a lilo but as full of something so resonant of the life force of a person who has died is just... well it's shattering.

And it's not just that it was full of her own breath/life force that Jerry used to have basically bottled for preservation and yet is now gone- but, assuming that Deborah, Myra, Benjamin and Russ were all going through the stuff together, when Russ let the air out... he breathed it in. If they were all there with him at the time (unclear), then so did the rest of them. And there is just something really heartwrenching about that as well- several years after they lost Hilla, they had one more chance to not just come in contact with a part of her but to literally breathe her in, and they didn't even know it at the time.

It tears me up to think about, I don't know. Probably a bit too morbid but ah well.

Here we have day 21. S5 is my least favorite to watch, but simce there's a lot of Drama, it's perfect for writing fanfics. I love this episode because it shows a different side of my fav character, Flora. She's usually portrayed as shy, insecure and the weaklink amonst the Winx, but here we see how she's much more than that. In this ep, she's insecure at first, but she pushes it aside and believes in herself and her power. It's a moment that I admire because I am insecure myself and seeing Flora all brave here makes me believe in myself as well. There's also the scene when she fights against Icy all by herself, which is a great moment that shows how much she's grown and how she isn't scared of the Trix anymore. Anyways, this episode is great and it has a lot of things tolove: Flora being awesome, Macey (cutie), Mitzi being Mitzi, Winx X Tris in the shopping mall (kinda hilarious) and the lilo, which was a great plot. I love the idea of magical flowers.

"One thing that irritates me about this series is that some of the other characters don't gain enough credit. For example, in 'The Lilo.' Bloom speaks to Macy near the end and even addresses her as "Macy" which she should not know! And then, Flora gains next to no credit for her actions, even though this was a relatively Flora centered episode."
