I have daily thoughts about Mark Watney and him talking with his partner, scoffing, going nerd as she info dumbs also a scientist and the turn around of them being like, " I'm sorry your a what for a living?" Plants!! You're literally a botanist going into space! You are the personality hire!" The deadpan would just get me.
Am I making my two fandoms merging your problem now? Yes. Because idk where else to nerd out about it. An interesting For All Mankind tidbit:
Talk to me about all of your fandoms, my beautiful friend! I love seeing friends on here share their interests and fandoms outside of what I normally see. It makes my heart happy. 🥰
If Seb wore that as Chris Beck, I'd find a way to wear it to bed so I can mentally say I slept with him. Seb or Beck. Your choice. 😉

You were notoriously famous for being late. Infamous; known all across the NASA facility you worked at. So, it was no surprise that Carina had been assigned to you on the big day, considering she had a track record of waking up with the sun.
Carina didn’t bother being sneaky an hour after the morning light appeared in the hotel room as she ran, bouncing onto the bundle of sheets in which you were cocooned.
“(Y/N)!! (Y/N), wake up! The makeup people are here, you’ve gotta get ready!” The ten-year-old was relentless and without mercy as she shook your shoulders, drawing you from your sleep. You mumble and groan, all being ignored.
“Carina, five more minutes,” You whisper, turning over in the bed and burying yourself in the covers once again.
“But (Y/N)! We don’t have five minutes!” She whined, resuming her shaking of your shoulder. With a silent sigh, you flip over and tackle her to the bed, showering her in tickles and brightening the room.
You stop when the door peeks open, a few slightly familiar faces looking into the room. They were your makeup artists for the day and with a small sigh, you let the little girl go.
“Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!” Carina chants as she takes your hands, trying to drag you from the bed. With a laugh, you follow, sluggishly standing from the bed as you prepared for the day. The big day.
Your day.
You’re laughing with your father when Carina comes barrelling down the line of fancily dressed guests, cheeks slightly pink as she collides with your dress.
“Ah, Carina, what’s wrong?” You ask, quickly ditching the bouquet of flowers in your hands as you bend down, ignoring everyone else. Carina’s half burying yourself in your dress before she wraps her arms around you, holding you tightly.
“I’m scared,” She mumbled and your dad quickly scooted away, giving the pair of you a bit of space. Carina slowly detaches from you so you can brush the few strands away from her eyes, mindful of the fake stars in her hair.
“Honey, what are you afraid of?” You ask, running your hands up and down her arms soothingly.
“That you’re gonna leave us. That you won’t love Dad and me,” She mumbled and you could see the tears prick behind her eyes. And she’d been begging to wear makeup today as well.
“Carina, I would never do that. I love you and I love your father,” You say and the tears started welling the more she looked at you.
“Starlight, I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t love you. I wouldn’t be in a big white dress with flowers in her hair, spending several months in engagement and stressful planning. Carina, I wouldn’t have said yes if I didn’t love you,”
Carina sniffled as she ran her arm across her nose before embracing you again, holding you tightly. One of the wedding planners hand you a tissue and you whisper to them a thank you as Carina slowly pulls away.
“Here, it’s a bit early to be crying, don’t you think?” You giggle and Carina manages to break a smile as she dabs her eyes and blows her nose.
“Alright, do you want to help my father walk me down the aisle?” You ask and she nods, her sadness clearing up with every second. You stand, beckoning your father over. You don’t need to explain the situation as he hands you your bouquet with a whispered, ‘I’m proud of you’.
With one hand in the crook of your father’s elbow and the other holding onto Carina’s you wait until you’re welcome into the church. After the last of the bridesmaids and groomsmen have walked inside, the calming music stopped.
Once the wedding bells start ringing, the doors open and the guests have risen from the church seats. With a calming breath, you allow your father and Carina walk you into the church. You spot familiar faces in the crowd as you beam, trying to swallow your nerves.
You see Barry and Scott near the front of the church, pretending to hold each other and cry. You were glad they were wearing tuxes and not dresses, like they had threatened. They wave at you as you pass them.
After looking at friends and family, you finally look to the altar, where Chris stood. He was beaming with pride, his chosen best man clapping him on the back and whispering in his ear for a second. You can see his NASA medals blinking in the light, given to him for his work with Ares III and beyond.
As you come to a stop at the altar, your father turns and gives you a soft kiss on the cheek before handing your hand towards Chris. Before your fiancé can grab it, Carina is holding it, tugging you down to her.
You lower yourself, letting her kiss your cheek before giving her a hug. There’s an echo of ‘aw’ rippling through the crowd as you rise. Carina is quick to give her father a hug before standing amongst the bridesmaids.
Finally, you take Chris’ hand and he guides you to stand before him, grinning that your star themed wedding dress and the twinkles in your elegant hair. As soon as you stare at him, meeting his eyes, the rest of the ceremony becomes nothing but a blur.
He seemed to hold the world’s secrets in his eyes, struggling you to turn away. Even with the pastor talking, staying things about you two that you already knew, Chris’ eyes held so much love and affection, you wished you could reflect it.
He’s unable to stop smiling, holding your hands softly and occasionally running his thumb across the skin. Finally, the vows come and you go first.
Yours held a playful tone, making the guests laugh as you speak about him in kindness and hilarity. Chris’ smile widens further when you speak about him fondly, ending on a softer note as you take the ring from the ringbearer, sliding it onto his hand.
When Chris speaks, there’s no room for sarcasm and hilarity. His voice becomes the essence of poetry as he compares you to everything he loves about space; the stars, the moon and the fragments of beauty that float between galaxies.
By the end of it, he’s crying and his hand shakes as he struggles to gently slide your ring onto your finger. You can’t help your laughter as you help him, taking his hand before sliding it up to his cheek, rubbing the tears away with your thumb.
The pastor couldn’t unify you quick enough but as soon as he does, you’re in Chris’ arms, pulled into his warm embrace as he dips his head, holding your lips in a tender kiss. The church erupts into a shout of happiness as you pull away, beckoning for Carina to join you.
She stands between you two as you both dip, pressing a kiss to either cheek and making her giggle.
The reception was beautiful. While the church was for your family, you’d decided to host the reception outside and under a pergola, partying until the night where you can admire the stars.
The cake was a delicious three tier, decorated with the galaxy. You gave Carina your edible star before smothering Chris in icing before he could do the same. Your dance with your husband was everything you could’ve dreamed of, your song playing in the background.
Carina was having more fun hanging with the both of you than with any of the other kids or family. She rarely left yours or Chris’ side throughout the whole night. You didn’t mind, you loved her company.
The best man’s speech was a delight and the few other people that also wanted to speak said beautiful things. Barry and Scott were among them, pulling out the megaphone that apparently saved your love life.
You caught up with family members and friends, thanking them for coming and for the gifts. You danced with more people than you could count and you socialised more than you ever remember.
You sat off to the side from the pergola, far enough that the lights didn’t hide the stars in the sky. You sat calmly, leaning up to watch the stars quietly and contently. You weren’t upset or mad, you just needed a little time to yourself.
“Hey, there you are,” You heard and spun in your lounge seat, spotting Chris walking towards you with one of his own. You smiled as he set up next to you.
“What’re you doing out here?” He asked, opening his arm so you could lie against him, resting a head against his shoulder.
“Just admiring the stars,” You sigh, curling up next to him.
“Carina’s been asking for you. She’s been searching everywhere,” He laughed and you hummed, feeling your exhaustion pull against your eyelids.
It takes you a moment to realise that the air had shifted. What was once relaxing had turned tense. With a slightly furrowed brow you sit up, looking down at Chris’ slightly saddened look, his lips turned downwards.
“Chris? Is everything alright?” You ask. Chris doesn’t respond, casting his head down slightly, his muscles tensing a little.
“It’s just,” He sighed but you interrupt him by hiking up your wedding dress a little, moving so you can slide onto his lap comfortably.
“Hey, no, I can promise you, I’m not going anywhere,” You smiled, running fingers through his hair as you looked down at him. His lips twitched with a small smile, hands resting casually against your hips.
“(Y/N),”
“I’ve already had this discussion with Carina. I’m not going anywhere,” A smile pulled onto his face before your kiss was interrupted by a very familiar voice.
“Dad! Mum!” Carina bounced next to you, also having slipped away from the reception party. Chris grinned as he opened his arm and let her snuggle in next to you. You wrap your arms around your two favourite people giving them a hug.
