Thoughts on the episode:

Wait, wait, wait - if he wanted the plans for the powerplant, then Why Did He Blow The Whole Place Up?

Thinking about it, I guess that he was chased off right after he did that - maybe that was just supposed to be the distraction 🤔 hella dangerous tho; he'd still need to search for the plans in amongst all that!

I was genuinely expecting International Rescue to show up at some point, but I guess, uh...

The newsflash being typed up on the typewriter -> the printing press -> the newspapers being reeled out -> back to your regularly scheduled puppetry! <- ugh, cinema! 😭🤌

Another powerplant, you say? 😑

Seeing John at the controls of Thunderbird 3 makes me stupidly happy. Like, yes! My boy does get to fly a thunderbird! We didn't see it happen, but it did! Because my boy is talented and special!

THE MIGHTY ATOM AND THE PIXIES (vol. 1) #6 (October, 1949).

This title began in 1946 as The Pixies, when publisher Magazine Enterprises decided to get into young children's comics.

The series featured tales of the Pixies, tiny critters living in the town of Pixerary. The prominent characters were Pete Pixie, his girlfriend Polly Pixie, and his nephews Tom, Dick and Harry.

But Pete harbored a secret: when trouble reared its ugly head he would find a hiding spot and recite the words "pick peck o' pixies." There would be a flash of lightning, and Pete would be transformed into a superhero - The Mighty Atom!

(I don't know how Fawcett Comics never got around to suing these guys for ripping-off Captain Marvel. Maybe they had their hands full defending their own lawsuit from DC Comics at the time.)

The Mighty Atom would then defeat whatever menace was bedeviling Pixerary, then change back into plain ol' Pete Pixie.

This formula propelled The Pixies comic book for five issues, from December, 1946 to December, 1948 (it was originally published bi-monthly, but there was a 15 month-gap between issues #4 and #5), but it never seemed to sell well enough.

A final effort was made by changing the title for #6, which was released ten months after #5. However, even putting The Mighty Atom in the title didn't change the book's fortunes, and it was cancelled.

Interestingly enough, The Pixies (with The Mighty Atom) appeared as a feature 30 times in the sister comic book Tick Tock Tales. They lasted there until 1951, after which they faded into comic book oblivion.
