Penumbra doesn’t just call all the kids “small della” she calls Webby “small della”
evident by how she calls Dewey “blue della”, makes me think webby reminds her a lot of della, how sweet!

Donald wearing a beak clamp is utterly horrendous and I want to pummel Lunaris into the next universe (never mind all the other horrible shit he’s done) but it also doesn’t line up with the rest of the trailer. In the first scene with Donald and the Moonlanders, Lunaris is able to twist Donald’s unintelligible speech to his advantage. Anytime Donald says literally anything, Lunaris can blatantly lie and tell everyone else that he said whatever Lunaris desires. (Fuck him.) That’s a really good advantage, so why would Lunaris gag Donald and lose it?
My guess is that something significant happened between Donald’s introduction to the Moonlanders and his fight with Lunaris.
Now, what could that possibly be? At the end of The Golden Spear, when Penny finally learns Lunaris’ true nature and plans, she obviously feels guilty and remorseful about her actions and how they’re feeding into Lunaris’ plan and Earth’s - Della’s - destruction. In the trailer, when she’s holding Donald, she really doesn’t look too happy about what she’s doing. We also hear a voiceover clip during the trailer that I’m guessing is Penumbra (not quite sure) that is explaining Lunaris’ plans. She’s also on the Season 3 poster, the only “antagonist” besides Don Karnage and Zeus, and maybe that sword fighting genie guy. Taking all that into account, it’s not unreasonable to believe that Penny will turn herself around, get a redemption arc, and defect/rebel against Lunaris.
But I don’t think it will be just her act of rebellion that will lead Lunaris to gag Donald. I think it will be because Donald brings her to the point of defection and guides her along the way. Ducktales is a show about family, and Lunaris is Penny’s equivalent of (a shitty) family. As seen in the first episode, Donald jumps at the chance to talk about his family, especially his boys. (It would hurt a lot if that’s how Lunaris gets information on them.) Even to villains (even if he didn’t realize they were villains, but whatever). Penny also obviously cares a lot about her people, not unsimilarly from the way Donald cares about his family. Besides, Della’s friendliness towards Penumbra is probably more familial than anything she ever got from Lunaris. Perhaps this new view on family will convince Penny to defect, and join the Duck-McDuck clan.
After seeing Penny defect as a result of Donald’s influence, Lunaris will probably feel somewhat powerless and furious. He might give Donald the beak clamp out of frustration or as a show of power, either for himself or the other Moonlanders, but I think the reasoning will stem from Penumbra’s rebellion.
Della may have talked about turning Penumbra into a friend, and obviously her openness and friendliness had an influence on Penumbra, but I think it’ll be Donald that really does the hard work. And he’ll pay for it.
lunaris&penumbra // trust me
I can and will make Moonlander OCs for the sole purpose of giving them Lunar Chronicles names
You know what could be quite a humorous way of defeating the Moonlanders? Having their very own Golden Bullet crash down on their rockets, flattening them to the ground, much to everyone’s surprise. Just as they think things couldn’t get any weirder out from the bullet comes, surprising unscathed, none other than
Donald Fauntleroy Duck
