Over a long car ride yesterday I had the chance to listen and sing along to Stan Rogers' entire discography. To my delight, I've discovered that Stan Rogers writing songs for his own baritone range means that, as an amateur mezzo-soprano who's been in and out of choirs (alto/tenor in a pinch) his whole life, I'm actually really well-situated to sing his songs up the octave.
Like, the low parts are fun as hell to sing and the high parts are not impossible in the keys he's chosen. Except for The Nancy. Fuck The Nancy in particular.
